I have not seen one Dean guitar or Bass that i like.

I seriously don't see the appeal.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

The Z (explorer) I just sold was actually well made, played nicely and sounded good. So there! Admittedly, Dean do a lot of low end turds, and the high end stuff is so prohibitively priced you'd have to be mad to get one when a Ran is cheaper. Mine was £330 new and worth every penny - I sold it because I had too many and didn't play it enough to justify keeping it.

Another surprisingly good and underrated guitar is the Peavey V-Type - cheap and cheerful, lovely neck and probably the best licensed floyd I've ever had - Never ever goes out of tune. Much better than the Jackson ones, and I like those. That was a similar price to the dean if I remember correctly. Plus it's only very slightly embarrassing as the connection to Adrian Vandenburg becomes fainter as time goes on....

So in conclusion Kev, get a pointy bass.

heres the link for gibsons bass dealers:
http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Divisions/G ... nderbirdIV

TBF id go and try one in a shop before ordering one, large or weird bodyed basses can be a bit weird to play and take some geting used to.As far as quality goes cant coment on gibson but fender us basses are amazing.Bc richs are ok tho not as workman like.jackson concert basses (the megadeth one) are also very hard working.

warick basses are for wee girls.

Cheers Joe, just clicked all the links and you're looking at £1100 before customs grab it! Deffo the second hand option is the best route. Tried loads of daft shaped guitars, I bought a fender precision 6 months ago and it felt like a strange shape (to me) so I know I've finally found a make that suits me.

Cowet Si - I love my Epiphone Thunderbird & fingers crossed we've got a couple of albums left in us so I'm gonna invest in a decent Gibson with the epiphone for jamming and smashing around.

Stu - Rememebr my 'carcass' viola bass? Dogshit.
