Another surprisingly good and underrated guitar is the Peavey V-Type - cheap and cheerful, lovely neck and probably the best licensed floyd I've ever had - Never ever goes out of tune. Plus it's only very slightly embarrassing as the connection to Adrian Vandenburg becomes fainter as time goes on....

So in conclusion Kev, don't get a pointy bass.
