Deceptor will be striking again with another recording in the next few months! In the meantime here is a little collection of rehearsal clips to lather you up good and proper.

This is going to shatter all of your sphincters. It's currently taking shape in a bunker in North London, and it is sounding IMMENSE.

Wait, do those blue things on the tom mics stop the bleed from the cymbals a little bit James?

I don't know, I was under the impression they were for preventing damage from accidental stick hits...?

That's right Zurab, I believe they are to reduce cymbal bleed. They are Jamie's homemade creations!

Kind of - I was using an Ampeg SVT-4 pro, going through 2 different 4x10 bass cabs: one ampeg cab without tweeter for the warm low end, and one Laney Nexus with a tweeter for mega clang. I was also using a Marshall JCM 800 through an Orange 4x12 for some more gainy top end, a bit like Lemmy's rig I guess.

It was completely destructive! With a Boss bass overdrive pedal on for some bits, we actually ventured into the live room while Jamie played through the rig. I doubt it would have been possible to withstand for longer than 10 minutes without earplugs. You could feel it in your bones haha!!

Sounds like big bastard bass doom indeed! Of course you know that the power will only be effective if you swung your guitar in an Ian Hill-like fashion whilst recording. I hope this is what you did. If not, take notes on Saturday.

Ha! It's funny you should mention that, I was doing that EXACT move in the studio at some points! Not while actually tracking though of course. I don't think even Ian Hill himself would do that.

You are wrong Paul!

Mr. Hill swinging his bass is the only way Priest are able to sound as good as they do!
