I do think Iain has a point though regarding being turned off by the music culture - you girls are clearly fans of the same culture so it's not such a barrier. I reckon Iain's right that long hair and general "metal" appearance is likely to generate preconceptions!

I used to have short hair myself most of my life, decided to grow it a bit, forced to have it shaved off by my mother a couple of years ago, now it's quite long:
