Ahh today (well, technically yesterday) marked the 1 year anniversary of my sister's deat from alcohol-induced liver disease. o be fair, I have no sympathy for people who do that to themselves - I love drinking a hell of a lot but I know when to stop. Its the families and friends I feel sorry for, and the families and friends only. Fuck the fatalities, if they're going to get into that sort of state then to be extremely blunt itserves them right. And thats exactly how I feel about my sister, we offered her so much help and she just kept drinking anyway - half the time, in cases such as hers (and most likely the said lad in this thread) all they leave is a lot of pain, medcal bills and a lot of peop,e who are saying to themselves "Man, what a fucking asshole". When they drink themselves to death for so long they seldom ever leave any happy memories behind, and those they do leave behind were so bloody long ago that you don't even remember them that well.
Gargh, end of rant. Sorry, I had to vent that.

Aye ive been around an alcoholic in the past and there really is only so much you can do.
Trying to keep yourself afloat while trying to help someone also is very, very difficult. You can't be there 24/7, it just isn't possible.
Dave talks about not giving a shit as much as you could which people may think is a harsh comment but for everytime you try and help and it get's rejected your level of caring is taken down a notch each time. People may say they wouldn't give up or that they would keep on trying regardless but think yourself lucky you don't have to be in that situation.
Horrible times.

This is a very very true statement, well put.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I highly doubt he'd be in that state at 22 if he didn't.
Waste of life. I love getting absolutely shitfaced (and so does Plodman) but I know my goddamn limits. Drinking to that extent is beyond retarded.
