Any fans of post metal here. This is definatly one of my favourite genres. My favourite bands would be, Bossk, Tusk, The Ocean, Neurosis, Red Sparrows, Scott Kellys solo stuff is pretty good also.
When Mastodon have their post metal moments in softer songs i really enjoy them. They seem to be wanting to move closer to that style and theyve said in interviews, so thats cool as fuck.

I'm not really a fan of the bands you're into either because I haven't heard them or they didn't do much for me. I do like some post-black metal though.

Re: Post Metal
Gahh i forgot to mention another brilliant band i havent listened to in a while. The Morningside. Russian guys, hinting more towards a melo death. But they are a brilliant 'post' genre band. Its all very calm music most of the time and its just amazing.
When you check through metal CDs in a shop you just seem to know whats gonna be post metal. Ive done that in the hope it was good once, stuck lucky and bought the first Bossk CD. Second one isnt as good but its brilliant, unfortunatly theyve recently broke up. But i cant imagine me going to see them anyway, or too many bands like this. Its very much CD stuff.

Re: Post Metal
Putting them on now... and this sounds lovely. I think i may have to get a CD of theirs.
Post metal is more of a sludgey style of metal. Slow stuff, usually very progressive. Neurosis are a perfect example to follow on it all.
