From the voice/guitar of Italian doom-mongers Thunderstorm, comes this project.

The "Lord of the Undead Knights" MLP/MCD is due out shortly via Black Widow Records

Bloody hell, this is brilliant, nice depressing stuff. Are Thunderstorm anything similar?

This is quite close to the debut Thunderstorm record. They went a bit more uptempo with subsequent albums.

Procession and Orodruin come to mind... sounding decent, if unexceptional.

Sorry to be pedantic, but Thunderstorm's debut pre-dates Orodruin's by some years, and this sounds more like that than Procession or Orodruin. You probably haven't heard, so I'll let you off :)

True, though, those two bands, especially Orodruin, are superior bands.

Heavy metal would be nothing without its pedantic fanbase! Procession and Orodruin were two parallels that struck me sound-wise, though perhaps the influence was operating in the other direction in that case!

Actually, I've rather neglected Italian HM bands in my headbanging voyages so far, with the glorious exception of Dark Quarterer (their debut is one of my total favs). Heard good things about bands like Black Hole (with their notorious bootleg) and Death SS/Paul Chain, but alas I haven't acquired any of their relics yet.

Doomsword & Wotan are two comtemporary Italian outfits that need to be investigated, if you haven't done so already.

I can't see the appeal of Black Hole. Amateurish stuff, to my ears. People seem to like it for its "cultness". I got rid of my copy of the LP aeons ago.
