Good evening, good lord it's 2.22am, I'll make this quick.
Are any boys or girls here fans of the folk genre? I am, and so are a few of my friends. I was thinking just now, some of us are heading down to Sidmouth Folk Festival at the beginning of August - have a gander here: http://www.sidmouthfolkweek.co.uk
It's basically a week of wonderful fun. It isn't a 'festival' as such in the sens that we know it, it's more of a whole town music thingybob, where different events are going on all week. So you pay for the camping, and then just pay for any events that you want to go along to. Apprently theres also music in pubs and such around the town too. Also, Show of Hands, an amazing folk duo who are bloody amazingly brilliant, are playing on the first night Friday 3rd August.
So my question is of course, does anyone here fancy joining us? It's not exactly a thrashing event, but it'd still be a great holiday week of joy and fun for everyone to meet up and get up to all sorts of shenanigans. What say you?
Folk fans, anyone?

The Sidmouth Folk Festival is ok purely for the getting drunk/hanging around seeing stuff part of it, and since i'm from Devon like 20 minutes from the place too, I may well go.
The music however, makes me envy the deaf.

Well that's the great thing about it, you don't even have to go and see any of the music, it can easily just be a great camping week of fun and madness. And there's quite a few of us going, so it could be great fun.
Wacken finishes the day after Sidmouth starts, so if people have enough cash and free time off work, you can still make it!
And Jamie's actually coming too, I just think he's worried he won't look as cool if he admits he likes folk music because it's only for old people.

I enjoy a lot of folk music, but there are a hell of a lot of freaks at the folk week. It's basically the stereotypical of english people being realised. That adds to the fun though. There's actually loads of great acoustic music everywhere, thousands of pubs, beaches, sea and camping. Basically a lovely relaxed weekend.

I like the banjo..... not so sure about folk though.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

The folkies at Sidmouth are all crazy drunks to be fair, they give most camping crowds a run for their money.
