Re: Country, anyone??
I bloody well need to watch loads of Bond films, but they're just those kind of films that you can never be bothered to go out of your way to watch, unless it's on TV, and I hardly watch TV now anyway.

I'm not going to make a new thread for this, and as this is kinda on the movie topic now...

Connery did Thunderball and Diamonds Are Forever. Both sort of... shit. He's deservedly classed as the best Bond really. Had Dalton done more than two films, I'm not sure he'd have done a shit one, though, seeing as he actually read the books and cared quite a bit about how he portrayed the character. It's a shame Connery didn't do On Her Majesty's Secret Service because that's a great Bond film despite the fact Lazenby cannot act.

^ All big influences on me growing up, dad was in a country band and is one of the main people credited by the BBC for bringing country to the UK, he won loads of TV talent shows, supported merle haggard as his backing band a number of times (Johnny cash was too wasted to play). Loads of good stories if you ever want a pint with him.
There was an old story about the mayor of Kentucky (at the time) made him an honourary colonel but we never believed him. With the power of the internet i mailed the Kentucky mayoral office and the new mayor confirmed it and sent him a certificate of his rank! Brutal.
Lev's seen this but I made a myspace for him so people from the 60's could find him, most of em are dead though!

Excellent!!! Merle Haggard is cool!
I've been mostly getting into the full on guitar based stuff, with less (or no) singing, recently, like Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West, Joe Maphis...
Worthwhile tracks to hear are (in above order of artists) - Blue Angel, Bigfoot, Mr. Sandman; Cannonball Rag, Blue Smoke; East Bound and Down (yeah its cheesy and a bit modern but a great song!), Lightning Rod, Amos Moses; Frettin Fingers, Stratosphere Boogie, Little Rock Getaway; Hurricane, Orange Blossom Special (been done by loads of people but I love the Maphis version!)...
That's whats been killing me recently
Oh, and try to find a band on myspace music called The Fallen Apples, they do a bit of everything old- blues, swing, country, folky songs... it's really good but I believe the recordings don't do them as much justice as seeing them live!!! (they're from my town so I guess I'm lucky!)

No but I have been watching stuff on Baroque art lately
Cbeebies finishes at seven and i can't be arsed ever changing channels, learned quite a lot of middle class pretentious shit. I'd fucking slay at a dinner party.
It's best we don't meet Billy, there may be some musical space/time rip and I'm not sure how things could pan out.
