I worked in a garden centre, that was hell on earth. Despite this, I ended up working there for about 2 and half years. Only kept by there by my lovely fellow workers, plus you used to get your pay in a brown envelope at the end of every day.
But the old people.. ARGH THE OLD PEOPLE.....

Re: jobs
My worst job was probably working in a warehouse at Bosch. I would take a starter motor/alternator/some other random shitty car part out of a box, find a number on it, type that number in a computer, put the part back in another box and then repeat the process, all day. The people made it not so bad, I was working with a mate, but he can be a prock, like when he nicked my phone and pretended he didn't have it for like an hour, some friends are just dicks really! lol.
Best job was easily HMV, worked there over Xmas the year before last.
I currently work in an office in a College as an administrator for Train to Gain, you may have see the adverts, they're the ones with all the hands making faces and trucks and plants and stuff. Some of them adverts are just for the LSC though, they fund Train to Gain. Useless info I know. BUT, if you want a free NVQ then contact your local college and ask them about Train to Gain, just lie on the forms and say you don't have any previous qualifications othe rthan maybe a couple of GCSEs, no more than 5 A-Cs though! You also need to be working in the sector that you want the qualification in. PS, don't be stupid and try to do it at a college where you have already done some kind of qualification!

Re: jobs
I have quit a few jobs but usually due to personal circumstances or career progression etc. I gave it all up tho to be my own boss and own my own butchers shop. It was good. It paid well. It was long hours though, and it was in a kwik-save. Then they shut them all fucking down. I am now a postman. I will never quit it because it is so fucking easy. I get paid to walk about. I get paid to chat to and flirt with women. I get paid as i am having sex with my girlfriend because she lives on my round. Result!!!!
I spose the only thing i quit in style, which wasnt really a job, was when i wrote for metal hammer, and i have mentioned that before on here, but for anyone who didnt know, i started doing some reviews and stuff for them a few years back (1999) and it progressed onto doing a venom interview. The reviews editor was a prick, they never sent me anything to review, i reviewed my own stuff i had bought, they never paid me anything for the reviews i had done or the interview, then they told me they wanted me to do a full page machine head review / featurette. He TOLD me it was to be a good review as roadrunner were going to buy a lot of advertising space for it, so i told him to get someone else to do it (this was by email). He rang my wife and went off on one at her, and upset her. I rang him up and gave him a gobfull, then quit withthese words "you can take your heavy metal version of smash hits and stick it up your arse!!!"
They replaced me with dani filth

Not surprised, she only would have been ten. Poor thing.

Behave lol!!!! Of course i wasnt shagging my current gf back then as lev rightly points out, she was in fact 10 in 1999
actually he went off on one about deadlines and the importance of getting advertising revenue. He told her that i was jepodising a lot of money etc etc etc. His name was dan silver, if u ever see him, smack him in the balls for me. he is a twat.

I was quite polite about leaving though, because I needed the reference.
I have the exact same thing. Tonight (hopefully) i'll find out my hours for tomorrow and the rest of the week. It quite ridiculous, but meh.

Re: jobs
I have 2 jobs one pro rata for the NHS working in Sexual Health in Birmingham, in the Chlamydia Screening Program called (Beesure) or sometimes if im needed at Whittal Street Clinic.
Whilst im not paid to well (considering the job). It is a pretty intresting job, every day is different be that treatments, testing samples for infections or just general paper work but it keeps me happy, my colleges are all pretty cool and have a good sense of humor, but I still remain the work clown.
Generally I get to doss around on the internet and listen to my ipod most of the day inbetween clients coming in to be treated.
My other job involves me driving a big forklift truck around a warehouse, whilst trying not to run over people in a very odd shift pattern but its cool.
I was a also police officer for 7 years. It had its ups and downs but sadly it did'nt work out and things got to much for me.

Re: jobs
I've had a few bad ones, typically temp working and student work. Worst that springs to mind was working in a bank - each time someone would ask for an old statement I'd have to find the physical copy of it on microfiche and then get it printed and send it to them. Doesn't sound bad, but the microfiche machine was a bitch and the filing system as non-existent so you would have to go through 100's of sheets before you find the right one. Ug..
another one was picking orders in a massive warehouse for Estee Lauder (makeup) so it would be a 2 or 3,000 line order picking like 3 lipsticks of 1 colour, 6 of another etc etc. fuck that was shit... invariably I'd always fuck things up and have to do it over again, after 4 solid hours of squinting to read the tiny labels.
I've cleaned up a few houses after the occupants have died, not messy stuff, more like get all of their crap out into a skip bin for them to sell the house sort of thing. Lots of times I'd pick up some really cool shit (we were allowed to have whatever we found most occasions) - vintage bar equipment, knives and all sorts. That was nice work..
