Virus were meant to be playing the same night at Hobgoblin but we're not now, so i'll be at this.
Are Elimination still playing too? If so i'll have to re-think about going. That Dave Spicer is an absolute mong.

Hahaha, well I might just take you up on that offer. Although technically this isn't my last show, that's at the end of May. Or, perhaps you could say that this is my last show and the end of May is the 3 (possibly 5 but probably 3) day reunion tour.

Re: Damnas,Terrathorn,Jugganort,Here There Be Monsters
good to see Damnas at the Gaff.i think the first time i ever saw Damnas play was at the waste-stock gig when the gaff was formerly known as The old kings head.wow time flies, that must have been almost 2and a half years ago.
so it was a nostalgic treat.
they played a cool lengthy set with a great crowd.cool to see James' new kevin keegan perm and hats off to Pat for playing whilst propped up on his crutches.wicked and energetic as always.
its a shame that for almost 2years,everytime ive been to gigs/sets in this venue, the same problem remains:
basically all the bands playing have to pile up all their equipment in front of and to the side of the stage.this really limits the floor space considering there are already pillars in there.also there is no divide/partition from the main entrance and the stage area.
and lastly, there is no wooden floor in front of the stage.
the reasons i think this is a pain is because firstly, the equipment slung everywhere occupies half the standing space,so the crowd end up filling up the area in front of the entrance.this leads me onto the next point:if the entrance was seperated with maybe a little wall/fence then people entering/exiting wouldnt be in the way of the crowd and vice versa.
and if there was a wooden floor/square in front of the stage rather than the carpet, then maybe it would encourage people to move forward into the space in front of the stage, rather than everyone being 6ft+ away.also the pillars have shelves for drinks so that makes any potential moshing another problem,as too many pints would be spilt(and then possibly blood would get spilt)
anyway, thats why i sometimes call the place the "Naff" because its like they are just happy to be a pub with a stage, rather than an actual venue.
i mean, just compare it to the unicorn, which is mainly a pub but still has great nights where some fun and frolics can occur in there.the unicorn upped their game with the new stage layout etc so why cant the gaff. and unicorn is FREE entry.
anyway,i only watched Damnas and then chatted outside with peeps till it was time to go.a good eve.not a bad place to see a band if you are exhausted or injured/just had a tattoo and dont want to jump around etc.and if you actually want to watch the band as musicians and film them then its also worth catching them in this place.but if you go there for a game of bumper cars/mosh/headbang or whatever then fingers crossed it ever happens to the full.
