Trivium.

Ultimate  . Sometimes I wonder why you bother...

Anyway, I agree with the Sex Pistols. Do I need to qualify? Although I know most of the songs really well it can't be denied that the music is far from radical. Sloppy, not exactly original and far less confrontational than is suggested. The hype around The Pistols is simply that they played the media very well. The songs were mostly shit. End of.

Also agree about British Steel. I heard BS and almost gave up on Priest because I was told it was their best. Absolute crap to suggest such a thing. I also agree with Number of the Beast. Hardly the most consistent effort - how can it be considered their best?

I think quite a lot of punk is overrated. DOA are a dull version of The Clash. The Clash themselves are also vastly overrated. The only credit Clash and Pistols deserve is inspiring acts like Subhumans, DKs and Discharge. Oh, and Husker Du's Candle Apple Grey is hardly an alt-rock masterpiece. It's a slightly more interesting Foo Fighters. Who REALLY suck by the way. As do RHCP. All of it.

So there.

Even HOTH, which has some brilliant classic songs on it, isn't consistently amazing, though it's probably the best of the latter bunch, along with Physical Graffitti. But Achilles Last Stand is actually my favourite Zeppelin song, so there you go. And Presence isn't a very great album.

1. "The Song Remains the Same" (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant) – 5:32
2. "The Rain Song" (Page, Plant) – 7:39
3. "Over the Hills and Far Away" (Page, Plant) – 4:50
4. "The Crunge" (John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Page, Plant) – 3:17
5. "Dancing Days" (Page, Plant) – 3:43
6. "D'yer Mak'er" (Page, Plant, Jones, Bonham) – 4:23
7. "No Quarter" (Page, Plant, Jones) – 7:00
8. "The Ocean" (Page, Plant, Jones, Bonham) – 4:31

I really don't like this album. Aces High is the only good song on it, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner is so booooooring!

I'm sorry but you're quite, quite wrong.

Sorry but as long as we hold popular opinion as the validation required for an album to be considered an 'all time classic' then the popularity of Trivium's albums has to be taken into consideration.

Whilst not all that bad, their music is not thrash, nor metal and is extremely over-rated.

So what were you getting at?

Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction would be my other nomination.

I'd say all of Pantera's groove/southern metal output too.

Ok the song piece by piece isn't bad for the chugging riffs, but i just never saw what was so great about the album as a whole. Far prefer south of heaven or the great seasons.
