What is it and why?

TNOTB for me. The holy trinity of Maiden tracks, TNOTB, Run To The Hills and Hallowed Be Thy Name (best heavy metal song ever recorded IMO) feature on it and its bruce's first and best performance with Maiden.

Powerslave. Beginning to end awesomez. Then the s/t probably. TNOTB is awesome, but tracks like Invaders let it down.

I only really like the first 3 and Brave New World, favourite of them is probably, quite predictably, TNOTB, its just a solid classic album from start to finish.

I really like Paul Di'anno though, Maiden seemed a lot more ballsier with him.

piece of mind, first maiden album i heard and i was hooked, everything apart from no prayer for the dying, those two with blaze and the new one is great though

Piece of Mind, closely followed by Somewhere In Time. I love all of the Bruce Maiden albums and The X Factor. Never got into the first two and hated Virtual XI.

Seventh Son!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for gods sake! its just bloody brillient from start to finish!!!! all the songs are amazing and its just bloody amazing everyday of your life.

then i can't decided which i prefere between the 1st album and Piece Of Mind. and then its powerslave. so there is a sort of top 4...?! and infact Brave New World would go after that so hey that is my first list! (although i said 2 posts ago that i hated lists!)

Without a doubt! There is certainly no Maiden album I like MORE than Seventh Son, but I still can't bear to place it above others.

Powerslave, Somewhere in Time, and Seventh Son in my view are the Holy Trinity of their golden years. Each is a masterpiece.

However, I would never be without the previous 4 albums - each of which will always remain classics for me.

Powerslave is my favourite, I absolutely love that album. Not only does it have classic songs ('2 minutes to midnight' may well be my favourite Maiden song - at least in terms of sing-a-long-able chorus' anyway) but I love the extended musical excursions as well. The instrumental 'Losfer words' is a really cool one for me, rates up there with 'Ktulu' as one of my favourite instrumental ever. And 'Rime of the Anicent Mariner' is just nuts! That motherfucker just goes off on one in the coolest way!

I also really like 'Killers' but for a totally different reason. Just the rawness and simplicity of the songs, and I Di'Anno had a lot going for him, perhaps a bit more credibility than Dickinson? I guess it kind of reminds me of the early thrash albums (although it was made before them of course) like 'Kill 'em All' and stuff, just 'cause of the rough edge to it. Anyway, they're all pretty cool.

I was listening to Piece of Mind yesterday, and decided that Sun and Steel was definitely the worst track.

Personally I love Quest For FIre! THe cheesiest lyrics ever, but it is a really overlooked great song.

Used to be "Powerslave" for me, but over the last few years it's been replaced by "Somewhere In Time". Both were fantastic tours, by the way.
