Looks like when I go out tonight I will have to drink myself blind and still get home to prove to someone that I have never met that he is wrong ;).

Fucking right!

Though trying to get hammered drinking ale can be a protracted process. If I'm out on the tiles I'll drink Guinness more or less exclusively and, even after ten pints or so, I won't be as fucked as I should be to justify having pulled a fat swamp-donkey (as I did last night).

Actually, I'm really not opposed to ale as I once was. I quite like Scottish ales, e.g. McEwan's Champion, but that's actually got alcohol in it. I'm still opposed to what it stands for though: English twats who like rugby league and have invariably got links to some kind of shitty industrial town.

'EEEE that were reet gooood, that.'

No offence, BTW.

Incidentally, getting home shouldn't necessarily be on the agenda. As long as you do or say something that you can never un-do. For example, sleeping rough is OK if you've assaulted a barmaid.

That's annoying because your assumption about ale drinkers is 95% true, so my only response is: shut yeerr faaaace! As far as Scottish ones go, you can't go wrong with Deuchars IPA. It's a good one to drink all night that, because it's not too heavy and it doesn't get you absolutely leathered.

I shall be on the lagers tonight, as I'll be mainly drinking in Wetherspoons. The bottles of Zywiec aren't too bad, I find.

I'm 95% correct 100% of the time.

Zywiec isn't bad. I really like all the East European beers that have filtered through to Britain as of late. I forget if Zywiec is rocket fuel or not. There's one just like it called Tsykie and the bottles are fucking similar.

Zywiec is one of my favourite beers actually, i'm fairly sure tyskie is the rocket fuel you refer to, both beers are from poland and have very similar labels on the bottles.

Zywiec is winner, i quite like Polish beers. My work mates get me a few whenever they go over.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

She is still about, but it turns out she is completely fucking mental. As in actual mental health problems.

Metal Iain wrote:Ale snobbery is annoying because it's so one-way. I don't deny I like an ale every now and then but I much prefer good lagers. Ale connoisseurs, on th'other hand, are seldom, in my experience, willing to do the same and drink shit-loads of lager.

Your second quote is something I'd also pick out. By implying that ales aren't mass-produced, lagers can't be of the same quality?

My dad and uncles are all big ale fans. I was drinking with them recently, and they were drinking this Scottish-ale made out in Renfrewshire yet I ask for Chimay Blue. When they notice it's 9%, they instantly liken it to Tennent's Super. I tried the bitter they were drinking as well and it was about 3.8%. I need to actually realise I'm drinking alcohol to enjoy it. I don't really like watery piss.

I see what you mean, and I agree. I guess I'm more for beer snobbery. I'm not so daft to think that there are no good lagers, but usually people are thinking about the macro lagers when they say lager; also macro ales, like Newcastle Brown, can still be shit. I do, however, quite enjoy a bock, doppelbock, swartsbeir, steam beer, and a well done eastern european lager; those are all brilliant styles of lagers. Good beer is good beer, whatever the style.

Chimay blue is an amazing ale, definitely one of my favourites!

Surely this statement is application to 100 per cent of fit birds?
