Saw this on the shelves and had a flick through - has anyone bought it? I didn't buy it because it didn't look like it had anything revolutionary to say and it was SIX quid!
But it has a top 50 thrash albums, plus loads of Metallica stuff and short pieces on Exodus, Anthrax, etc. So Maybe interesting to some people here...

I'd dodge it like the plague. I've bought a fair few magazines with a Top X Thrash Album and they've always been tripe. Six quid is just inappropriate for a magazine. FHM is like £3.50...

My broher got it came with some cool stickers but the Top 50 had some bad choices like Machine Head - Burn my Eyes (any machine head album would be a bad choice)

Indeed.
Do we need yet another thrash top 50?

Yeah seemed a bit like a big bum boys list of all the backed bands getting pushed, but it did have some smaller features on the lesser knows that the mainstreams can use to good effect.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Bit pissed off cos it would have been the perfect issue to use the answers I gave to Dom Lawson when he did a short email interview with me and said it would be in an issue soon!

Metal hammer's editors don't know shit about thrash. Anyoen who says reign In Blood and Master of Puppets are the ebst thrahs records ever probably classes Ill Nino and Sum 41 as thrash too.

Re: Metal Hammer Metallica/Thrash issue
It's actually not that bad. The Top 50 thrash albums (as expected) let's it down by being a bit of a joke. It's hard to take something seriously which puts the Trivium-worship of Sanctity's "The Road to Bloodshed" above the likes of Eternal Devastation and Eternal Nightmare! Also having Armored Saint (as much as I like them - but they were hardly thrash) above To Mega therion and Darkness Descends was a bit silly.
A couple of the "Story Behind's" are reprinted from old issues but a few of them are brand new (Reign in Blood for one).
Basically, it's worth the price of a normal issue but £6 was a bit steep. Then again, I'm the perennial sucker who buys absolutely anything if it has the word "thrash" on it.
