NEWSFLASH - OOOOOH NNNNNOOOOOOOO!
Just got a text off the promoter to say Grim reaper have pulled out due to the drummer being ill. I'm totally gutted but at least it keeps in line with our bands mis-fortune of bad luck with gigs.

Re: Grim Reaper + HOD Free Gig!!11!!111!
Just got back from the Marrs Bar.
A nice little venue which unfortunately seemed to be largely frequented by slappers and inbreds. On arriving we were also told that Grim Reaper had pulled out (Back injury? A likely story if you ask me) and that Warmoth had split up! Mind you, that was probably for the best. I mean, Warmoth? What's next? Battle Caterpillar?
Anyhoo...
The first band I caught (no idea what they were called) were tediously crap. Nondescript middle of the road rock with a singer who spent more time deciding what to do with his hair than actually singing in key. A piss poor cover of Rockin' in the Free World was pretty much the only "highlight".
Next up were a deathcore bunch called Dissidence. Jesus Fucking Christ. What a racket. They appeared to play the same song eight times while the singer had a 40 minute temper tantrum. Well, I say singer... Can you believe they actually had three singers? All of them doing exactly the same as each other. Typically, they drew the biggest crowd of the night, the pit turning into a mass of sweaty inbred bodies for 40 minutes before all clearing off.
The one good point about them however was their bass player, a talented little devil who turned up in the next band aswell, and who deserves to be playing better stuff than that generic, pointless noisybollocks.
Fury were next and not half bad actually. Traditional metal with Manowar/Rhapsody-esque lyrics and songs you could actually tell apart! The singer had a good voice and the guitarist was pretty good too. Nice cover of Creeping Death to round things off with aswell.
So, we come to the main (only) reason I was there tonight - HOD. Way better than when I saw them in Smethwick earlier in the year, everybody was on top form and once they'd got a pit going at the front, seemed to go down really well with the locals.
A couple of observations though:
Rev: Worcestershire. It's pronounced Wuus-ter-shur. It's not difficult.
Feemo: Learn your bloody lyrics, will you! Singing "Berberber ber berberber" during White the Lightning simply isn't good enough!
Excellent covers of Milk and Skin O' My Teeth though, so well done there.
After raiding the HOD merch stand (Lovely sailor's outfit, Povey) yet again and mentally etching Immortalicide's face into my embarrassingly shabby memory for next time, we decided to head off while on a high rather than risk another assault on our fragile little ears from a band called Hostile who, by the general consensus of people there, were a "load of shit".
In short, top gig, shame about the other bands.
Sorry I never got a chance to say cheerio, Feemo but the wife was feeling hungry and you really don't want to get in her way when she's like that (Oh, she says to say thanks again to the Rev for helping her down the stairs).
Greetings to everyone and don't leave it too long to come back to the midlands.
Couple of pics: (I'll put some more on my Facebook in the next day or two).

Re: Grim Reaper + HOD Free Gig!!11!!111!
Was indeed a good night, i saw a couple more bands than Mr Weasel, including the first band which was a weird mix of funk and indie with a transvestite mainman (woman), they were shit. I quite enjoyed dissidence, and thought they had a good early extreme noise terror meets death metal type thing going on.
Black Mausoleum were pretty good too, but as a grindcore band, they could have done with a drummer who added some blast beats to lift their sound up a notch.
Fury to my ears were pure thrash, very much like early xentrix, and after speaking to them, i hope we will see them on here soon.
I think that both the rev and feemo were purposely doing what they did for the comedy vibe there DW, maybe their northern humour passed you by a little????

Yeah, I'd like to see Fury again but the singer told me the drummer is buggering off to Uni in two months. I never sing (as I can't) but it merited the occaision, I genuinely forget the lyrics everytime and I wrote them, last time I sang it was "stuart Pendergast is a homosexual".
Great to see you guys again so soon, don't forget to mail me mort about the wee shop. EDIT - My EZfit tap just exploded! Kitchen just flooded everywhere

Yeah was good stuff, heckling and seeing the guys live again it had been a while which would not of happened if Mort had'nt drove me down so kudos!.
I had a good time waiting at the bar for 10 mins for a pint when we first got in, it took that long to get a round Mort's missus got a free WKD which they did'nt realise.
Nice venue to, just a pity its in the Shire.
Haha if you dont remember it next time, I demand you write a song about it, Titled " The Quest for the Celestine Tin Opener" I suggest the theme of the song can be about when you have been out on the piss and get home and cant find the tin opener so you can have beans on toast....
It magically write's itself.
