Cash Generator

Postby Metal Iain on Fri Jun 27, 2008 3:39 pm

Having never bought or sold anything via Cash Generator or Cash Converter, I'm wondering if anyone else on here has. Having moved all my stuff back to my parents' house after Uni, I've realised that I have an amp and at least two guitars I never plan on using again. I'd also like to shift the stuff with the minimum of fuss, i.e. no angry eBay/Yellow Paper people hunting me for sport after changing their mind about buying off me.

So, is Cash Generator the answer to my problem or will they offer me next-to-nothing? It's a Jackson KVX10, a Marshal AVT150 Combo and shite Vintage semi-acoustic I'd be looking to off-load. Obviously I'm not expecting megabucks for them as they're not even in good condition, but I could trade the stuff in against other stuff at GuitarGuitar almost as easily.

Whilst I've heard a million stories [mainly from America] about people making super-awesome pawnshop finds, I'm sure they are the exception to the rule.

Verdict on my predicament would be welcomed.

I have purchased stuff from them, and they tend to be quite cheap, so i dont imagine they give you a lot for the stuff they sell. Also, a lot of the records and CDs i have looked at arent in particularly good condition, so they either dont check or dont care, again leading me to believe they got them for almost nowt.

As far as I know they're just the same now as they were when I bought mine [Winter 2003] but they have Floyd Roses on them now.

Condition wise, the fins have three or so chips each. It was probably gigged about ten times back in 2004 but has seen little to no play since.

Try Gumtree or Craigslist, you'll feel cheated if you offload your stuff to Cash Converters.

Incidently, if you do - go back a few days later to see how much more they're selling the gear for.

It's very small town. Both WH Smith and Cash Generator are on the 'must visit' list when you're waiting for a bus back to your local village. In many ways, I'd be better off living in Siberia.
