Right I know Zurab also likes it, but i was wondering if anyone else on here enjoys Jazz?
There's a lot to be said for the genre if you don't, otherwise I'll get my coat.

Jazz...
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I enjoy Mahavishnu Orchestra, but that's as far as I go. A lot of it is all a bit... "To enjoy jazz you have to become....Jazz..."

Re: Jazz...
I like Jazz, I just don't like the people who play Jazz. In my college/uni/thing, all the wankers did Jazz Studies. Pretentious bunch of wankers. The music itself is joyful, I particular enjoy it's room for freedom, and you have to be ridiculously amazing to be able to play it well, unlike metal where you can play 5 notes and makes a million pounds if you wear masks and jump around.
But I'm not really 'into' the genre as such. Can anyone recommend me any powerful jazz lords to enjoy?

Like Kushner, I've never really known where to start with jazz. I've been intrigued to check out the Mahavishnu Orchestra but never have. Thought Birds of Flame was the place to start. Is that right? Because I can see that Dan's putting a Mounting Flame track up.
And with Coltrane, where should you start there?

Giant Steps is an incredible album. My favourite by Coltrane.
Dig it!
Great because of alternate versions of songs from different takes adding up to 2 minutes to some songs.

They are both actually great albums to start with!

After seeing the George Duke clip reminded me of
It sounds a bit more on funk/fusion but Stanley Clarke is an ace bassist
