It actually involves skill

Have you ever watched the likes of Kaka, Ronaldinho, Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo play? Obviously not, because they're absolutely amazing. Any cunt can run into another cunt at full pelt, it doesn't take much.

What?!

All Ronaldo does is run at full pelt at slow defenders. OK, the boy's got skills but it's so much easier to control a football than it is a rugby ball. I'd like to see him do anything that Shane Williams couldn't.

Rugby players are also expected to do way more things than a football player and with less time to think about them. Have you ever tried drop-kicking a rugby ball? It's fucking brick if you haven't done it before. Then you get players like Francois Steyn that can score drop goals from 55 metres and penalties from 60. On last week's evidence, Ronaldo can't score them from 12 yards.

With football, you don't need as coherent a strategy or team work as rugby. A game of football, on the other hand, can come down to a moment of genius from one player. Sure enough, in rugby you get players that'll do something completely amazing but it'll seldom win the game.

In summation, any tit can play football hence why all football players are tits and working-class. However, you need brains to play rugby and that's why all rugby players have been to Uni and pronounce words properly.

And with regards to the ref, a good scrum half will tend to try and influence him but you'll rarely see a rugby player showing the complete attitude problem that football players tend to have.

That is the most bollocks I've ever heard from you Iain. And that says something.

Much easier to control a football?! Are you suggesting it's easier to use your legs than your hands? All your points are wank and can be easily shot down with unbias. Your rugby bias is amazingly bad. Ban.

Furthermore, I think football should be changed so that people can be tackled like this.

No, but, believe it or not, you have to kick quite a lot in rugby too. It's far harder to weight a cross-field kick than it is to cross a football especially given the fact that the bounce of a rugby ball is near unpredictable.

And, come off it, I never talk bollocks. What I say is invariably correct and you pricks are just too thick and working-class to comprehend it.

this is exactly what i didnt want this thread turned into. Well done Iain, you like rugby, make a rugby thread or a rugby vs football thread if you want (infact maybe you already did ). I can't be bothered to talk about it as i have no interest in Rugby and arguing about which is better is pointless.

Sod right off!

You should know as well as anybody else on here that no thread on UK Thrash will remain on-topic for its duration. Whether or not it's me taking it further from its intented purpose or not is besides the point because I'm not the only one who does it. The fact that you started this particular thread doesn't make it any different. That you have made this kind of objection after 2792 s also makes you a complete and utter gobshite.

P.S. Rugby is great.

You can be a fan of both though!!
I goto every home game and a few away games for spurs, yet i try to get to see munster in the rugby whenever they are in the uk, i travelled to edinburgh when they were over and will be going upto coventry this afternoon for the semi final.
The whole tension between the sports is completely bullshit! There are good and bad sides to both sports.

Aye, I don't mind watching football from time to time. I just find what it stands for to be increasingly disgusting and the lack of sportsmanship in the modern game is just a bit sad. To be honest, I have no idea why football has ever been referred to as 'the beautiful game' given the mentality of football players. If you tell a referee in rugby how to do his job, you'll get a penalty reversed against you.

I mean, I was watching highlights of the 2003 World Cup Final. England were 17 - 14 with a minute and a half to go and they concede a penalty allowing Elton Flatley to level the scores and take it to extra time. The players just retreated to the posts and waited for him to take the penalty rather than surrounding the ref and telling him that he was in the wrong. Have you ever seen a referee reverse his decision? I don't see why footballers try it.

Oh yeah, by the way Iain, you really think the rugby players find it hard to play?? I fuckin doubt it, I'd like to see any of those palyers trying to play Premier League football, they'd be shit  same with footballers playing rugby! it's called practice, and they get paid to do it, so of course they're gonna be good, otherwise they wouldn't have a job!

But yeah, all sport is sold-out and shitty, every team is just a business, and that is just shit... In football especially, more than half the time there'll only be a few of the players actually seeming to try, and the other players are just half-arsed-ly playing and mess up a shitload considering it's their ONLY job and they get paid £££££££££ just to fuckin kick a ball every day... I'd be amazing if I was getting paid a grand a week to play football!!!!
