But you shouldn't be able to compare it at all!

This was, in pretty much every sense THE first thrash album, so comparing it to the genre that Metallica (maybe Dave moreso than James..) created is a fairly pointless excercise!

Anyways, Feckin great album! :rockdevil:

Exactly right. It is ridiculously ignorant to judge this album out of context.

I'm sorry, but you're deluded if you think Metallica created thrash. Just because KEA was one of the first albums, it doesn't mean they invented it. There were dozens of thrash bands around at the same time as Metallica, Metallica just happened to be one of the more popular and happened to find a good label willing to finance them to record an album. If Johnny Z had prefered Exodus to Metallica, we would be having this exact same arguement for BBB rather than KEA. And we all know that BBB is FAR better than KEA.

The things is though, Exodus weren't as good as Metallica in 1983!

I know Metallica didn't create thrash, but this thread is about KEA, not Exodus or Slayer or any other bands that were around! Fuck, 'tallica even influenced Slayer to play faster!

More to the point, weren't Anthrax actually dropped by Johnny Z so that he could finance Kill 'em All? Moreover, isn't Metal Thrashing Mad the first use of the the word Thrash for music?
