I think Daniel Craig is exactly what the Bond films needed. If you think about it, it's stupid that Pierce Brosnan is meant to be capable of all that stuff physically.

Also, I think Casino Royale was a triumph of reinventing the brand - it is so much more gritty and down to earth than it's immediate predecessors, and it makes it far more gripping as a result.

It's like they've finally realized that trying to out-do the gadgetry, the abnormal characteristics of the villain, and the stupid pun-liners is not how you make a better film!

Oh, and another point is that I think there's a lot in the suggestion that the Bourne films forced this change of footing.

I think the name's alright, it's better than another generic variation on death and the world, "Die Tomorrow Another Night if The World is Golden Brown with Death" for example, is the direction the Brosnan movies were heading in. Casino Royale was great, but the producer's comment about the next one having 'twice as much action' makes me think it's ruined already. That's why Casino Royale was good, because it wasn't just a string of bombastic action sequences in a row. I hope they don't make Bond shit again, Casino Royale seemed to save him, it was like the Batman Begins of the Bond series. Hopefully this next one will be the equivalent of The Dark Knight! But hopefully Daniel Craig won't die from an overdose after he makes the film.

It will be interesting to see how they portray bond in this one, Casino Royale was set before the bond we know and love so in some ways they were free to create a new persona for him but this second Daniel Craig film will be the real test. I just hope it isnt some stupid actionfest with no plot!
