Re: PC Games recommendations
CS:S if you're really good naturally at FPSs, but it's pretty old and all the people who still play it have played it excessively for years and years and so they're stupidly good. Don't know if you've played Call of Duty 4 yet but I don't imagine it costs much for PC anymore, might be worth a look.

Iain i used to play elite on my C64 for days on end, and i have some very bloody good news for you.
X3, go look it up on google. It's basically elite but it looks real (well to a certain extent). I have literally played it for weeks solid, it's an amazing game. Total free market economy running in that background of the game. Pirates are rife, there is inter species wars with enormous ships, and best of all there is a massive community of fans that have made some really good mods that add some cool ships into it.
Any of the Total War series is a must, they are amazing. I'd suggest Medieval 2 or Rome as a first look sort of thing. Turn based stat game with real time battles that a real sexy times.
I could go on and on and on. I'd say start with the main ones that have been mentioned here and if you need any more suggestions just ask.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I think I'll give Stalker a go, do I DL the mod? X3 sounds good, but the reviews on Play say it has a learning cliff not a slope.

Yeah it does have step learning curve, but it is totally worth it. Might be worth getting later perhaps. A couple of "run and gun" FPS games that have popped into my head are Serious Sam (really fun simple multiplayer) and Unreal Tournament 3 (the Gears Of War games use the same engine).

Here is a link to the Stalker mod, it's got a review of it as well that sums it up quite nicely. Be sure not to get Clear Skies, can't stress that enough.
