Well then with thrash being touted as the next big thing in NME then it means we are soon to have an influx of crap made by people who were probably listening to mainstream shit a few years ago.

Actually this thread has bought up something interesting though! Why the hell are all uni students indie kids!? Going to uni myself soon so fun fun fun! I do know some people who are into stuff like the Arctic Monkeys and the people themselves are OK but honestly their taste! :crap:

I have noticed this also...at uni theres a "rock" night once a week in which maybe 1 song i like will be played and it will be something like Metallica. The rest of it caters to the thick glasses, scarf wearing people.

Though this lead the Rock and Metal society setting up the odd Metal nights in which yours truly had a DJ slot, so forced Thrash down their throats.
Though im president of the Metal society so things can change!

Won't be long til the Heretic bhoys are in the pages of NME. We dress like half the cunts in there any way so it'd only be right.

It's indie everywhere, you can't escape it.

And our rock society is actually even worse.

Aye, I was thinking of buying it. The tracks I heard on Myspace were class.

Indeed. I was very disillusioned with the whole uni experience. I thought I'd go to a college of music and meet like-minded people who at the same time would be individual and nice. But no, everyone is the fucking same, apart from about one person or maybe two. It's really annoying. I hate idiots.

I start uni in September and I'm kind of expecting to be the only person on the course who doesn't read the NME religiously and want to bum the Arctic Monkeys. It's almost as though 95% of students wake up on the day of enrollment and think "MUST...LIKE...INDIE..." I have met one person who will be on my course already...seems okay but surprisingly enough she is an indie kid!

These people need to be educated!

which is why it's kinda good that even NME takes a quick nod to Thrash and even the UK Thrash 'scene'!!!!!!

I think it's very cool that they've taken a look into our scene here - it shows that they DO in fact take notice of underdog music! Hopefully there'll be a lot more where that came from.
After all, 'it' bands are extinct, electro is disappearing up its own arse and kids reared on Emo are looking for something heavier - that could well be thrash!!

PS. If you don't like the crappy music at the student's union, there's always the option of drinking at home!
