I'm not sure of the exact number. It does vary just according to how pissed I can allow myself to get.

There's 2.3 units in a can of Strongbow. If I have eight cans a night for a week that's 129 units. That would be an acceptable week to be honest. In Freshers' Week in first year I'd do eight cans and then go out and drink more.

I had to stop drinking cider so much because I got gastritis. The acidity of cider was thinning the layer of puss in my stomach so stomach acid was coming into contact with the walls of my stomach. It was pure fucking agony. Honestly, I could barely stand when it was bad.

Mind you, I was hospitalised three times in first year due to drink-related misadventure.

The first once went when I was 13 because I had a rare genetic disease called Wilson's Disease. It basically means your liver can't excrete copper and when copper builds up it wrecks your organs. By the time they got my old liver out it was about five per cent of its usual size. Not many people have heard of it. It was quite funny really, I got tested for everything (including AIDS) before they worked out what it was.

And you wouldn't be the first to end up with Alcoholic Liver Disease in their late 20s/early 30s either. I see them all the time at work mate, it's fucking scary.
