finally.i just got in from what felt like the longest day at work ever.even a can of Relentless couldnt get me out of my living dead state.my poor legs.
i got in last night and really wanted to post on here then watch the toxic tapes but due to getting home at 3am i had to get some much needed rest before getting up at 6.30 for work
anyway sod it,i only do 2days a week so cant complain.
enough of my sob story, time for the gig review.
after sprinting from victoria station to try catch Deceptor in time,i arrived at 7.10 to find Elimination were still on so that was a bonus as i always like to catch their blinding opening sets.and yeah theyre always better everytime.
after catching a breather and meeting all the lovely boys and girls in the bands and from the forum/scene it was time to watch Deceptor.i was really looking forward to this set due to their last rage set being so blasting.although having the early string mishap, they quickly recovered and went on to kick ass.it was good to meet Bestial Bill and i purchased the shirt and e.p bundle deal off him(which ive had on in the stockroom at work all day and it fuckin obliterates
)
now on to STD.ive always been intrigued to go catch Jamie in the other band he plays in.a while back they did a gig which i found out about too late.anyway i really liked the punk element and it is such a unique crossover style.
also id only met caps previously at metal brew and he was a pleasant, welcoming, calm mannered kinda guy,however...on stage the man is a beast.its like a real life example of jekyll and hyde
his stage presence(in general)was incredible.a real clear and gutteral vocal style and a crazy set of expressions to match.in a good way he was unpredictable(keeps you all guessing/on edge)and entertaining.Jamies lead guitar work is also phenomenal.another multi talented all rounder.
River Freshney were on top laugh a minute form.all dressed as the turtles and guided by splinter they illuminated the stage with the green theme.some more genitalia based antics with the various veg.it seems that a lot of extra thought and effort go into their sets ie:outfits, jokes, song intros etc.also i noticed that it was one of the fullest and most receptive crowds ive been in/witnessed them play to.i cant wait for the split with Nebukadnezza.not long now.also im up for the Evile gig at underworld now that River Feshney are supporting.
Damnas were wicked.they stir up a more volatile crowd every time i see them.there was plenty of dives and moshing.the brutalist set ive seen so far.also i managed to record the new song along with James' drum solo and Donnys interactive mosh.the crowd response was great and i cant wait to see what 2009 has in store for them.they are building a solid reputation with their "street thrash" style.
Mutant finished the night with a bang.with an already psyched up crowd,Mutant dropped the final bomb and finished everything(and everyone)off perfectly.hats off to John who played 2bliding sets in a row.i think James actually mutated during that set, lethal
also i was liking the festive lyric changes from Raging Paul for Psycho surgery.roll on the e.p
a huge thanks to Jamie
as it really was the perfect way to celebrate xmas.
these resilience/rage gigs are hands down the best metal events in the u.k.
cant wait for the hat trick.i know Jamie will do us proud 3rd time around.
another special mention to Lewis and Bill for really going to exteme lengths to produce and give out an amazing free dvd.
i was happy to help give out the dvds,it was an honour.nice one lads
p.s.my youtube clips will be up tomorrow...
and James,"theyre yours, its the season of giving NOT giving back
"
also,good to see/chat to/catch up with you fellow forumers.cheers
