Prog Thread

Well what it says on the tin really as people have been starting threads for 'Yes' and 'Camel' so lets just talk about prog! I also like bands like Hawkwind, Rush and King Crimson. I also dig bands like Comus which are sort of proggy pshyche folk.

Please folks though, try to avoid talking about Cynic, Opeth, Dream Theater, Atheist, Tool etc. This is for the prog we think of when we say 'PROG'.

Check out the album 'Space Shanty' by Khan. It's the only album they ever did, but it's one of the best prog albums I've ever heard. From the 70s, sort of Canterbury scene style prog, unbelievable vocal harmonies and truly epic songs. It's got Steve Hillage in it, who is nice. Also check out Gong, they're brilliant.

Borknagar are rather proggy...in the way Opeth are. Except Borknagar have more of the black metal influence. They are lovely though.

But...anyway...Rush...and that's...

I have been listening to 2112 a lot recently, and it is really amazing. Geddy Lee's voice is insane.

Yeah, fantastic album! Managed to get it cheap on CD recently. Needless to say, I would like the vinyl sometime which I'd imagine is not too hard to find. But I have stuff like A Farewell to Kings, the S/T first album and Moving Pictures, all absolutely amazing!

Also wish to invest some time in the Krautrock movement.

Can i be lazy and ask for people to put magic links to albums. because i am far too decrepit to look bands up any more.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Look for some of the bands mentioned and they should have streaming tracks.
