thrash metal maniac wrote:KEA is on of the first thrash albums ever, the only reason why 'tallica sound like they do on this album is Dave Mustaine's influence into Hetfield's playing. After Mustaine (and his influence) was gone, Metallica started to pussy out and write slow tracks and they released the extremely overrated RTL (my least fave of the 3).

:D

What about Kirks influence in Exodus?? Have a listen again to the Death & Domination tape, it is so gay!! Pauls vocals are a million miles away from BBB and i think it was Ricks influence in the band that pushed them into heavier territory!! They were a below par power metal band till rick joined, and kirks solos were probably the best part. BBB is a dang awesome album and was one of my most played at the time, but it hasnt stood the test of time as well as KEA. I have to say tho, that the song seek and destroy is totally over-rated as it is the worst track on the album!!

WHAT THE FUCK!

BBB is one of the best thrash albums EVER. It just fucking screams thrash. It's amazing. So melodic and yet so violent. Ok, KEA is great and was the first thrash album (often labelled as such and, I think, rightly) but it was a formula that needed tweaking. All the songs are good and fresh and it has a great dirty vibe to it too (which I think is sometimes overlooked, or at least not mentioned enoughy). However, some of the songs just weren't rounded enough. No Remorse is the best track and incredible, but some of the songs were not as impressive. BBB though is just a collection of great thrash songs and I'd change little about it. The solos are awesome all the way through and Baloff is just MANIC. KEA was actually one of the thrash albums I got but Exodus took its formula and ran away with it. And then There Were None, Metal Command, No Love, Deliver Us Unto Evil. Only No Remorse challenges them on KEA.

Crazy thread.

MofP rules. This conversation has been on going. There are better thrash albums but it's still a metal classic. AJFA... is good but not excellent. Some of the songs are too long. It would be considered a medicocre album if made by any other band... Still, Blackened and One are awesome and I have time for Eye of the Beholder, too...

Never looked at it like that.

Makes this whole thread a bit redundant...

 I have some live bootlegs from '83 and '84, none of their old songs pre-BBB were anything special!!

Also I hate Kirk Hammett, he can't write a decent riff and all his solos are the same overrated, widdly-widdly sounding wankery (copied from Mustaine's playing anyways.... )........

i think someome said it before... but its the dave mustaine influence that pips KEA for me.... i think people really underestimate mustaines influence and writing style. could say biggest mistake metallica ever did, or the best thing to happen to mustaine! i dunno. dont get me wrong, BBB is an awesome album too, but yeah, that another lesson in violence really executes those songs with so much wazz

wazz... what a word... sorta like kahunas!
