Re: What Do You Think Of The State Of UK Thrash Right Now?
i think all there are loads and loads of great bands around at the moment as apposed to the last 5 years of crap music in general, but the problem is lazy fans who dont look for new bands, keep the flyers and take em home and check the bands out on the myspace even if youv never heard of them before or the name dosnt sound like you cuppa because iv dismissed loads of bands that way and then later found the same band and really liked the music! give it a once over and if its crap never listen again but at least will know then rather than missed out.
there are loads of people with the 4 band wonder attitude that dont check out anything other then whats in at the moment or what their mates are listening to, make your own minds up! check shit out! its that very attitude that stops really good bands getting in the door in the first place which leaves us with whatever the media spins us as to whats in or cool now! if we carry on like that we might as well all listen to bluddy AKON innit!
honestly lads an example, i was checkin my myspace the other day and i got sent e request by a band called End-Time Illusion, never heard em before so i checked em out and they were wicked! 5 minuts later i bought their album online and now its on my ipod and if they play the UK il be at their show because of myspace.

While I understand what you are saying I don't like blaming lazy fans. We're all inundated with new and old bands to explore. There is in many ways too much choice. Some fans are only ever gonna follow Trivium but say they are thrashers to the core and that's fine in my book.
The work Terrorizer is doing in Terrorizer is invaluable IMHO. That's gonna attract new people bands and once they find one unsigned band that band should make sure they get sucked in to the scene and all the other thrash bands. For example sending out flyers for OTHER bands with EPs. That would help the scene? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Nevermind lazy fans, lazy bands are the worst. Yes, I mean us.

The Thrash boom is over. But now it's a permanent fixture in the metal scene, were as a few years ago it was non existent.

well i think theis scene belongs to all of us so all of us should make the effort! people should get involved more! bands go to a lot of effort in many cases with investing time and money into practices, merch, vans for transport to get to gigs, some bands pay for their own flyers and flyer it themselves and then if they arent signed the cost of getting cd's out there to people to buy, tbh if bands are lazy they dont get known but even if they are active everybody needs a little help from their friends right? mates should flyer eachothers bands and support eachother, fans could even do that, but on top of that if fans dont have musical talant why not get into promoting or tee shirt printing or art for album covers or like what rik did with Capital Punnishment and the toxic tape boys, this forum even! there should be more people with the attitude like the few guys that really take an interest, more underground fests like Metalbrew! somebody should make a pirate radio station or something how fucking wikced would that be! sombody could make like an unofficial headbangers ball type program on youtube every couple of months? if i had time id do all this stuff my self and id have a fucking great time doing it! we can all do a bit more for the music scene IMHO lol

Its good to see thrash get a lot more recognition again, but I'd like to see some more ambitious bands who try to really do something different. Mutant have achieved a sound that, to my ears at least, doesn't sound as rehashed and bog standard as a lot of new bands - it may not be anything completely new, but they're very different from the rest of the pack.Which makes me a very happy Dave.
Aside from that, not much to complain about. Except Merciless Death and Fueled By Fire.

Just incase you haven't seen the thread on an internet radio I'm trying to set up on New Metal Army. I'm starting with a UK Thrash station so if any thrash bands from the UK want to add their music read the thread and send me your warez.

The forum seems rather slow at the moment?
could this be linked to the heatwave and people not being arsed to go on a forum when its hot outside?
anywayssss Evile have a new album coming out... that's amazing news, it will also blatantly get more people interested in thrash (maybe even straight-up Trivium fans haha and those kids you see in brand new megadeth shirts who've only heard the most recent album and think its the best )... but yeah thats all good, show them the light!
