HMV have fucking bought out fuck loads of venues and have naming rights and renaming now one of the most prostigious venues left in london to the fucking HMV apollo. In think its disgusting.

Now if hmv are gettin into the music bussiness how long before they open themselves up a record label and start signing bands? Cause they have thier own distribution technically they will automatically beocome a major ....it will be the end of music as we know it...

But yea this sucks. I think places like the forum in london have been bought out,

ALSO G-A-Y has been taken over which they may re name...i dont think the big gay nightclub in london called H-M-V is going to to have same impact...especially as if u wer drunk you could think it would say H-I-V.........that would scare gay people the fuck away lol

Well its not really NO more...overexageration...the name change...just sounds shit...and its a very prestigious venue...with that and astoria gone...london is loosing its music heratige. Sure its still thier but the name is what made that venue legendary

So its original name being Gaumont Palace, then was the Hammersmith Odeon and its only been known as the Apollo since 1990 so thats a null point. Doesn't really matter.

Well if they start a label it wont be the end of the world... itll just be another major label i guess.

And for the venues? Meh... Ive only ever been to two Apollo gigs up here and i dont reallly want to see any bands there.

I don't think this is really an issue at all. No one cares about the O2 Arena being called the O2. Yes it will be a bit of a shame to have to say, "I'm going to the HMV Apollo", but as long as it's still there, it doesn't matter. Buying the Borderline though... that's a bit worrying, hopefully they won't change anything about that, that venue's amazing.

Everyones just going to refer to it as 'Apollo' or 'Hammersmith' anyway, don't see the great concern anyway. I agree about the Borderline though, thats a lovely venue and the place I first saw Witchcraft and discovered Diagonal. They better not shit it up.

It's not like they're knocking it down, they are providing some money in exchange for mutual advertising which looking at Zavvi, is well needed.

More importantly, I don't hear Apollo Creed moaning that they stole his name. Oh wait, probably because he's died in Rocky IV.
