Them Crooked Vultures

Postby Bongwater on Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:59 am

Them Crooked Vultures (abbreviated as TCV) is a rock music group that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2005. Comprised of drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Probot, Queens of the Stone Age, Scream), vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal) and bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), the band also features Alain Johannes (What Is This?, Eleven, Queens of the Stone Age) as a live rhythm guitarist.[1] The band's self-titled debut album was released on November 16, 2009 in the UK and November 17, 2009 in the US. It was released to the internet on November 9, 2009 via the band's YouTube page.[

Anyway, bought the Album Yesterday, its pretty rockin, its got the wierdness of a QOTSA album but a Zeppelin groovy overtone, anyone who likes the above bands, i know i do, will enjoy, its so good HMV sold out on the 1st day!

I listened to the album yesterday, I thought the songs were boring, had no great (or even good) riffs and they didn't go anywhere.

I think the single was alright. The album is ok. I really dont like Josh Homme, he is so boring. Great to have Dave back on drums - they sound raw and pretty rocking but overall the album is quite boring...

I got it last Saturday from a shop that sells albums early. I think, on the whole, it's very good. Elephants has got some really cool riffs on it. The first listen I was a touched underwhelmed but now I really like giving it a spin. Been listening to it about twice a night this week. A couple of songs are less brilliant that others (especially the unnecessary Interlude with Ludes) but I definitely think its a good un.

Yeah i agree, i think there are some really cool songs on it. I guess you can tell they wrote them by jamming together because sometimes they go off on self-indulgent tangents. But songs like New Fang and Scumbag Blues are good.

Bah, I've got to say on first listen I found this really boring. I liked New Fang, but everything else melded into one long sound of monotonous average riffage. Disappointing indeed, aside from the odd nice bit here and there. But I'll give it another couple of listens and see if it grows on me at all!

Sorry, I have to say, I find this material a bit lame.

I was bored shitless. They sound like Queens Of The Stone Age minus any decent riffs and catchiness.
