Re: Them Crooked Vultures
I listened to the album yesterday, I thought the songs were boring, had no great (or even good) riffs and they didn't go anywhere.

I think the single was alright. The album is ok. I really dont like Josh Homme, he is so boring. Great to have Dave back on drums - they sound raw and pretty rocking but overall the album is quite boring...

Re: Them Crooked Vultures
I got it last Saturday from a shop that sells albums early. I think, on the whole, it's very good. Elephants has got some really cool riffs on it. The first listen I was a touched underwhelmed but now I really like giving it a spin. Been listening to it about twice a night this week. A couple of songs are less brilliant that others (especially the unnecessary Interlude with Ludes) but I definitely think its a good un.

Yeah i agree, i think there are some really cool songs on it. I guess you can tell they wrote them by jamming together because sometimes they go off on self-indulgent tangents. But songs like New Fang and Scumbag Blues are good.

Re: Them Crooked Vultures
Bah, I've got to say on first listen I found this really boring. I liked New Fang, but everything else melded into one long sound of monotonous average riffage. Disappointing indeed, aside from the odd nice bit here and there. But I'll give it another couple of listens and see if it grows on me at all!

Sorry, I have to say, I find this material a bit lame.

I listened to it through once and got a bit bored but the whole time I was listening to it I was thinking, "this would sound fucking cool on acid".

I was bored shitless. They sound like Queens Of The Stone Age minus any decent riffs and catchiness.
