Vote for which will be the best way to promote/make money for the UK Thrash compilation CD.

Great idea!

I say a gig because there are maybe some bands people would want to see but cant because they are playing another venue in another part of the country. If all the bands play the same venue then fans can see all the bands and only have to make one trip.

For instance if fans want to see the bands that play London but also want to see northern thrash bands they will have to make another trip and spend more money to travel and they will be less inclined to do that.

With one show we could gather all the troops and so many thrashers from round the UK would come to see this show!

How about having two dates - one in London and one in the north somewhere with the same line up? That way no-one misses out because it's too far to travel and no-one has that excuse not to go.

Could even be more than two, I'm pretty sure someone already suggested a tour of a few dates scattered around the country, but with the same line up throughout. If nobody did suggest that, then I just did

Less risk involved and more likely to be profitable than one large outdoor event with 3 stages or whatever was suggested lol.. If there's only one date, everyone might just conveniently forget to go haha

True but it would be hard to get all the bands to play three shows in a row together, if we had one or two (at a push) shows then all the bands could play an alldayer...

Yeah I'm saying one, or two, big fuck-off gigs. I understand the difficulty of getting around the country, so one up north and one in London would make sense.

The point is, if you do one or two to begin with then if all goes well it could develop into a tour. But there's no point putting the cart before the horse, I say let's just put that date Tom suggested (October in London) in stone and work from there.

I'm intruiged to know what people mean by big gig in terms of size, both crowd wise and number of bands?

Because a 200 capacity venue, with 6 or 7 bands isnt that big a risk in my eyes, its not exactly a sure fire bet but it wouldnt be suicide, if youre thinking 500 people and 12 bands over 2 sages however then I think everyone concerned would be taking a conciderable hit in the wallet...

i do like the idea of more than one gig and the getting bands travelling around abit, but yeah i think im with rob aswell, starting with just 1 or two,

somewhere like the underworld wouldnt be two big would it? im not sure the exact capacity but im pretty sure everyone down here si familiar with that place.

would they have a problem with putting on 7 or so bands?

I think it should hit Ireland and team up with Mass Extinction and Gama Bomb. It would go down a treat over here.

I don't think the Underworld would be too receptive to that, as far as I can see. Plus alot of the good night of the week are taken up by club night there anyway. it may be possible to hire the venue, in which case the financial responsibilty is ours, but I don't know.

What is the venue you've got booked Tom (Atom)?

Last time I checked the Underworld was asking £500 for a night. Cant remember what night of the week that was or what it included, it may not be too accurate anymore either.

Size wise I'd say it was a bit on the large side of things, its 500 plus isnt it?
Maybe something a bit smaller?

Saying all this, if you London guys know you can get that many of your fans to turn out, it may be worth it, but somewhere cheaper is probably better as £500 is a lot to start out with before you even add on most of the other costs.

Yeah I agree, probably something a little smaller. I mean we can get a few people out, but not five hundred, not by a long shot. It's not so much the money that bothers me though, if indeed it's going to split among many bands, say 7 or 8, £500 isn't that much. Baring in mind we are going to charge for tickets etc.

But obviously free would be ideal, and less is better. The Oh bar is in Camden, available for hire, and significantly cheaper. Somebody said to me £100 odd, not sure how accurate that is. Depends what night I should imagine.

Gig because, even though I'll be unable to go due to money woes, Thrash isn't really big enough to guarantee big enough crowds to warrant a tour.
