this song used to irritate me a little but when i recently did it for a laugh during a karaoke party,i came to appreciate it a little better because although it sounds like a corny,cheesy,funtime tune,i had to actually read along to the lyrics and came to realise that there is actually a tragic story to it and its quite cleverly written.
there are 3 verses which link to tell a story about gangsters and victims etc.

I despised the Smiths all the way through the 80's. Morrissey was (and probably still is) a sad, flower-throwing tosser. :)

Couldn't agree more, I really don't need to hear songs about how depressing it is to be middle class thanks.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.
