True it's not there, and true it has some great songs like Ram it Down, Hard as Iron and Blood Red Skies, but could it really be considered their best? It's them trying to prove something after Turbo and getting it wrong. i do feel that if Scott Travis was on that album, it would sound 10 times better though.

I'm not the biggest JP fan tbh, there are some tracks i think are fucking amazing, just brillliant metal/ power metal, but a lot of the songs just seem shit to me, so I'm not voting a favourie album

Altough I have to say British Steel and Painkiller are fucking great, albeit PK is pretty same-ish all the way through and a tad over-produced for my liking!!!!

Seems like there's a lot of love for Sad Wings. I reckon Epitath is the most beautiful song Priest have ever done... and Exciter's probably the best. It's pretty much the ultimate screaming-along song.

Exciter is indeed a classic. The singing at the end, 'Staaaaaaaand by for exciiiitaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!' is out of this universe.

I find Ram It Down to be the most horrible of all Priest albums (excluding the even more horrible 'Ripper'-era albums, but they can't really be considered as real Judas Priest). It may just be that the production and use of drum machine makes it sound like the gayest of all gay albums, but to be honest, if the songs were good I would still like it a little bit. And I don't. Apart from the title track (and I do remember Hard As Iron being quite good but I can't remember it). A terrible moment for Priest. Turbo was definitely better. If someone comes up to you giving you grief, you tell them hand off! This is Private! Property!

I'm also going to be controversial here and claim that I think British Steel is quite an overrated album indeed. Perhaps for it's time it was a great album, and I'm certainly not saying it's a bad album at all, but when I listen to it I unfortunately get rather bored, and I don't really feel much excitement from anything on it. Even Breaking The Law and Metal Gods - when played live I must admit they are great, but on the album I just can't really be that bothered. I just think that generally on that album there is a distinct lack of any kind of emotion. Screaming for Vengeance is much better!

well said there, i completly agree with you there, about British Steel. The album does nothing for me, i got sick of people requesting the same song from it when i used to DJ.

That song being breaking the law, which i may add is the easiest judas priest song to play on bass hahahaha, still a good strong album but scraming for vengeance / stained class has so much more character

More character, that's a good way of putting it indeed, I definitely agree with that. I don't find myself listening to Stained Class that much, but when I do it is very good, perhaps I should listen to it more.

While we're on the subject of Priest, what do Angel of Retribution owners here think of Loch Ness? I personally think it's a very underrated slice of metal goodness! Very epic and quite hilarious and also rather kind of Sabbathy in a small way. The end fade-out thingy is a bit shit and unnecessary, but on the whole I like that song very much! I do find that a fair few people can't stand it because they either can't take the ridiculousness and hilarity of it all, or they just find it boring.

So many thingss to say:

Priest are amazing.
Went for SFV mainly because it's the ultimate no filler album.
I nearly neglected Priest because I heard that British Steel was their best album and thought it was average. I'm glad I woke up o the truth.
I think I prefer Priest to Maiden.
Halford is an incredible singer.
The preist live experience was one of my best gigs. Possibly, THE best gig.

Yeah, good points about British Steel. Its only essential moments are the two opening tracks, which are certainly up there amongst other top Priest tracks.

Loch Ness is alright, but totally skippable. A bit repetitive.

Halford is the best metal vocalist ever.

However, I still rank Iron Maiden above Priest.
