Behold the glory of Judas Priest no more
Well by now I'm sure you have heard the news. Judas Priest are finally calling it a day. I'm a bit upset that Nostradamus is the last album they left with us... I thought they were going to do another retro-style album as Halford once mentioned. So that's a crying shame. But at least we get one more tour. I guess it's probably about time that Halford retired, seeing as he basically came on stage with a walking stick during the Priest Feast, and sat down for an entire other song. But still, what sadness indeed. More because along with Dio's passing, this really feels like the beginning of the end for the heavy metal greats. What the hell is there after they've all gone? Trivium? Rise To Remain? Justin Bieber? Jesus Harold almighty, I think I'm going to kill myself quite soon.

I definitely share the pain here, it's really depressing to think that heavy metal is on its way to the Undying Lands with all that remains of its kin. All the more reason to keep watching Iron bloody Maiden I say. But I guess it's up to us youngsters to carry the torch!
Also, I very much doubt Priest wont do further shows now and again. But I will still go to this 'last' tour and do some tearful headbanging.

Re: Behold the glory of Judas Priest no more
I know it may not seem it from my other post, but of course I am upset. This is Judas Priest after all!
I think the tours are going to sell out in daft amounts of time, so I highly doubt I'll get to go.
It's an interesting idea about Heavy Metal becoming a thing of the past, but i think there are plenty of bands that are doing well enough in the genre. I guess it's this diversification of it all that's slightly damning it, after all, it's all rock and roll.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I think the music industry needs to implode and a proper rock 'n' roll band needs to start things up again. I just can't see any decent hard rock/proper heavy metal bands being able to fill arenas after Maiden & Co have said their farewells. It's a pretty terrifying thought. Bands like Ghost are great and all, but a proper massive band who can appeal to many and still be amazing (like Iron Maiden) need to come out and remind all the dickheads in the world what real music's all about.
It's a pretty bloody massive shock though really, this Priest thing. Just a few months ago I remember reading interviews with Bobby (who's always so mad and makes everything up anyway, I should've known) about how it's time to go back to Priest after he's finished his solo shenanigans, there were talks of new albums and tours and everything... and then all of a sudden, it's the end. I wonder why they suddenly decided to do this? Or are they really planning to reunite again in 5 years time or something? Or maybe they suddenly realised Nostradamus was so terrible they couldn't go on any longer?

Actually felt like crying when I was informed of the split this morning. As stated, with Dio gone too it just feels like classic (and genuienly great) hard rock/metal is just slipping away.
Once Motorhead go, that's fucking it. I think I'd rather be dead when it comes to that Just real glad I got to see priest last year.

More people i know are dying every year, especially as im in my 40s now (just) and i'll probably be gone in a couple of decades too, especially now ive found out im dibetic, got high cholesterol, high blood pressure, various other aches strains n pains......................the darkness is decending on my life!!!!
on the bright side, the local real ale pub has just got an amazing dark cherry gothic ale in which is so lovely so life isnt all bad!!!

That really is it. Anyway, Priest are brilliant and this is a shame. Still, apparently they'll be at Hellfest so I'll be seeing Priest and Scorpions together again for the last time. I fucking love Judas Priest. Seeing them in Birmingham was the best gig I've ever been to, I think. I can't think of better at the moment. Victim of Changes has to be one of the best songs ever. So many of their albums are genuine classics. Brilliant band, infinite fans. RIP.

Yeah, crikey, that really was one of the best gigs of my life ever! The Green Manalishi made me nearly cry with its powerful riff of thunder.

Hahaha, yeah it was really was unbelievable. Definitely in my top 5 along with AC/DC (O2 Arena), Iron Maiden (Early Days at Reading Fest, Phantom of the Opera, christ!), Tool (Manchester MEN Arena ting, 10,000 Days madness) and Astra (the most mind-blowingly jaw-dropping performance of my bloomin christ almighty life)!
