Re: guitarist/singer wanting to start a band
To be fair, I think the vast majority of UK Thrash bands kicking around at the moment were formed of people who were already friends. Thrash just isn't widespread enough for adverts for bands members to pay off. I tried it a few times three or four years ago but just couldn't get people that were up for doing Thrash.

It's always going to be a longshot online - if thrash fans your age and in your area are roaming the internet, then I'd like to think they would have stumbled on UK Thrash by now. Like you say though you have to get out there and make yourself known in the real world at the end of the day.

If your serious about it you could put ads up in shops. Doesnt work all the time, but it might.

Record and music shops would be the best idea.

Also you could try going to jam sessions and seeing if anyone there might have an interenst in thrash. Don't get your hopes up though, its usually shit old geezers doing endless 12-bar blues.

Re: guitarist/singer wanting to start a band
yeah but put a thrash beat behind it and a man yellin the words 'blood', 'death', 'war', 'die' and 'rage' and it becomes thrash instantly. Why not add a shitty pentatonic wanky solo.
God i love thrash metal.
