Aye, it's a shit hole. However, your description only really applies to the Central Belt. The borders, highlands and islands are actually quite nice. The people are a lot more humble than your average English person though so it's pretty good.

I'm not disputing that, the teaching of history in most of the western world is shockingly bad and generalised. But the point is he's not the most famous Scotsman because not all that many people will know who he is. Everyone watches The Simpsons though.
