Has no-one heard bestial devastation???? It hasn't even been mentioned yet, and that is too an awesome record, very very basic in the songwriting and production department, but definitive pure undiluted thrash of its time. Snotty, obnoxious and raw, just like the first destruction and sodom releases. Awesome!!
Incidentally, i agree with martin that chaos ad isnt a thrash album, but is still a worthy release, and while it was a radical sound departure for sepultura, it certainly isnt a wimp out as someone said. Matbe they should have changed their name and released it as some band other than sepultura then the wining would be irrelevant!!
Anything up to chaos ad is great!!!

Well the second and third ever UK gigs they did (the first was suporting sodom in 89) were at the marquee club in london in 1990. They were only announced a short time before they happened so there was no advance ticket sales, and tickets would only be available on the day at 3 o clock!! My girlfriend and I got up at 4.30 and drove from derby to london to make sure we got in. We got to the marquee at around 7.15 am and were about 20th in the queue. By 11.30 there was 100s of thrashers right down charing cross road, and by 1 o clock, people were being turned away as there was too many folks for the tickets available!!! They limited the tickets to 2 each when the box office opened too!! During the day both Igor and Andreas came out to those of us who had been queuing since silly o'clock and they were both really nice guys. The gig was just the best gig i ever went to, for the atmosphere as much as the music. Apparently the second day was a similar scenario, but the sound was reportedly fucking really really poor, so glad we went on the first day!!!

Yeah, BTR and Arise are both awesome. I have only begun to really appreciate the later tracks.
It's amazing. Looking back at these earlier posts it seems that some people who now spout constant silliness used to have sensible things to say...

LIES!
Its boring monotonous twaddle, it invented nu-metal, thus is shit.
I think I hate it most because it came after the genius of the previous albums, otherwise I'd probably just dislike it...
What jono said.
Nice to see a familiar face here as well
