and just as there were great bands, im sure there were shit old school bands around back in the day just like now, but they obviously didnt stand the test of time and their names faded away. but back to the point, it doesnt really matter if it was released 2 years or 20 years ago; its either good thrash or shit thrash.
Good post, I think that says it very well. I agree that it seems bands have to have a squeaky clean sound nowadays to appear credible - personally I think the sound of bands like Machine Head and Lamb of God for example sounds awfully articificial and actually less aggressive.
I lent a friend of mine Sepultura's Schizophrenia, and the main gripe he had was with the "poor" production!
It's true that bands from the past are not handed to people on a plate nowadays, and that's why sites like UK Thrash need to exist!
