Adrian Smith Signature Jackson

Postby Metal Iain on Mon Jan 19, 2009 12:55 pm

I had heard he'd resigned to Jackson but had no idea Jackson were actually putting out a signature series for him. They're pretty similar to the Jacksons he was using circa Seventh Son but, personally, I think they look amazing!

They're tidy. Apart from it's floydrose.

It's not a recessed Floyd Rose, so even you would struggle to bugger it up.

It's not the fact they're unreliable that I don't like them...

They're not unreliable in the slightest if you use a proper one and know how to use it. That leaves the fact they keep you in tune better than any other type of bridge as pretty much your sole reason for disliking them. Unless you just don't like the way they look...

Uncomfortable for muting on. Takes forever to get set up again when it goes all mental. Encourages people to make horrid useless noises. Have to completely get it mega redone when you want to change your string gauge. Restringing is a massive fucking faff. Alan keys...fuck off.

You get used to muting on a Floyd. If anything, it's easier to mute because, unlike on TOM bridges, there's no string going passed the bridge. All you have to do when you change your string gauge is increase the spring tension in the back of the guitar, just as you would on any other trem-equipped guitar.

As for horrid useless noises, Camel pre-dated the advent of the Floyd Rose. So...

my experience with floyd rose is that they are horrible to play rhythm metal guitar with muty chuggy stuff, they keep the guitar in tune and great for lead playing, my guitar however is a shit lead guitar with shite lead guitar tone but great for riffing
