I'm interested in buying one, my 'licensed' one, has gone oily coloured, the fine tuners are jarred, and takes me about 3 years to get the guitar in tune!!

The only licensed Floyd Rose I ever owned was very similar, very annoying. The original ones are much better, but I hear the Schaller licensed ones are pretty good too. And the high end Ibanez ones (the one I owned was Ibanez but NOT high end!) are supposed to be pretty good too.

I kind of like the idea of being able to make trem-type noises without one, just by using your hands! Like tapping and bending and weird chromatic slidey things. I kind of think there's more creativity in that, although of course not all the noises are possible.

Yeh, I've heard good things about Schallers too,

Will probably go for the OFR's as they'll probably be easier to install.

My super lazy powers will only go so far!

Re-stringing is such a bastard!!

I've got an NJ series Warlock and an RR3 V.

The Warlock is my stage guitar ( haha, get me) as its nicer to play, but I'm bored as hell with the shape so I might upgrade the RR3 instead

K.

You might want to measure the trem cavity on your guitar and check it against the dimensions of an OFR and a Schaller. I was lucky because I could switch the OFR straight in, literally, it took me about 30 minutes to get the trem on and strung.

It has been decided.

As soon as my next paycheck comes in, I'm getting one of these OFR's!!

I'm so fed up with my unlicensed one.

I'm still pretty satisfied with having a fixed bridge. I occasionally miss doing mad sqweals (skweals? squeals? how the hell do you spell that), but to be honest I never learnt how to do it properly (dive bomb style!), and I don't think I would use it masses anyway.

The main thing I'd like it for is doing crazy Slayer style solos - with a fixed bridge I guess you have to be more reliant on the actual frets which you hit, but I guess the chaotic effect can still be achieved...just not as cool :(

Oh well, it's been well-worth the lack of hassle so far!

I'm not interested in doing Slayer-esque (shite) solos. I do bar tricks all the time. Well good. Big fat tits.
