hey just joined the board, my names Joel and i thought i'd introduce myself. Don't usually join boards and general just read and don't post, but i heard about this place a long time ago from Atom and it looks damn handy with a good community of people.
Thrash well, i fucking love it. I love lots of music, love alot of metal, with thrash being my favourite. Favourites being Megadeth, Testament, Slayer, Exodus, Anthrax, Kreator and Destruction. I like quite a few songs from other thrash acts like forbidden and Vio-lence, but i wouldn't consider myself a fan.
I posted on this particular board as i am a keen musician. Been playing guitar(yep another one i know!) for just over 5 years now. I'm influenced by dave mustaine, alex skolknik(cant even spell it) Marty Friedman, Hendrix, and many others. I'm mainly a metal guitarist who loves riff-writing and having a go at lead, but i do enjoy playing my blues and funk .
I'd like to post a link to my band Juggern0rt (www.myspace.com/juggern0rt). We been together a year now but only just started gigging. Did our forth gig last friday at the fighting cocks in kingston which went well i thought. I think we're getting better each gig and we seem to be getting a good crowd going aswell. I got aspirations to hopefully play with bands like Mutant and Evile soon as i think we would do a good job opening for them. I must apologize for the crap recording on the myspace, everyone says it doesn't do us justioce compared to how we are live.
Anyways let me know what you guys think, not pure thrash i know. all criticism good!!
thanks!
Hi everyone!

Nice one Joel, hope you like the site! I'll give your Myspace tracks a listen, I guess you will meet some of us in the London area if you ever check out the gigs or come to our bizarre social events!

Re: Hi everyone!
yo guys, yeah i try to get to gigs when i can, obviously when not working lol. I'm so happy that metal is still making a huge impact in london. Actually i think i'll start off by making a huge statement that some of you may not like, but i think there is some truth in it too, and i like being bold!!!
As much as much as i love the thrash genre, and how much i respect so many of the new talented bands there are, a lot of people tell me thrash is coming back. well no.1 it never went away, other stuff came about and no.2 i don't think it will 'come back' as they say, or at least no way on the same level as it first did. This aint a bad thing as to me, the world evolves, just like music. Thrash of the 80's represented a part of humanity back then, the thrash that there is now has evolved into something new. I think there a lot of good musicians now who have appreciated all the different forms of alternative music there has been, from led Zep, Deep Purple, Sabbath, up to Priest Maiden Motorhead, then to Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. After that metal just branched out with all the diffrent forms like black, death, nu and you even got the crossbreeds. I believe we will now hit an age where metallers will try joining all their influences into something new, a NEW Metal, the next band that is gonna make an impact like Metallica, then Pantera.
Alot of ramblings i know, but i fucking love metal so much, the music, the people, we who live the lifestyle and are not in it just to fit in. The world is a good place to have fuckers like us around. I know it, i'm sure you guys all know, and most importantly, the colonal knows it!

Re: Hi everyone!
New metal? That's been done, didn't go so well.
As far as the new wave of thrash goes, what we have now popularity wise is pretty much your lot and we kind of agree on that on this board.

Re: Hi everyone!
New metal, not Nu metal if thats what you mean, unless your talking about lamb of god.
on the subject of lamb of god, i always felt by the time the metal world started giving them attension, they were already going down hill!!
I just believe that there is a 'New Metal' which hasn't been done yet. In Juggern0rt we're trying to go for this, love it if one day a few of you guys came to one of our gigs and tell us what genre they think we are, no one can do it yet!

Re: Hi everyone!
Yeah, still doesn't mean we can't love it though.
Now i'm going to listen to the new circulus album and have a medieval wank off.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.
