No,me neither.

Lions, if Evile get very popular they can increase exposure to the rest of the scene. It's a bit hysterical to suggest that theyre trying to kill off thrash!
Metal Iain wrote:This board has nothing to do with the 'scene'. It's more just about 10 or so pricks who used to like Thrash that, for one reason or another, waste a lot of time posting on here.

Saying that Bullet For My Valentine did it, stole the limelight of some other well deserving bands but.....

Basically Earache are actually doing a decent job of promoting a cd is all and Evile deserve it having worked with them in the past.

Fuck if someone tells me they are going off Thrash just because its got popular, They need a slap on the upside of there head.

Music to me is just about having fun.

It seems a lot of people die hard fans / posers have forgot about that.

It annoys me when people get tangled up in elitism, I often wonder if these kind of people actually even listen to music and just spend their time slagging off bands they think they don't like...

Evile deserve all their success, periods.

I think we can safely say everyone here is in it for the long run. Apart from possibly Martin.

aye, the elitist bullshit is so fucking stupid, it does my fucking nut in, it was so predictable that people would start going against evile and start slagging other bands, and sometimes i wonder if some people on here actually like anything, sometimes thrash fans are the biggest posuers out there, and a bunch of bitter jealous bastards at that  .

Everything turns full circle!!!!! I remember all this the first time round. Firstly no-one liked thrash when Ian and i got into it, (which wasnt the reason we liked it however). All the metal kids at school gave me shit for liking venom and metallica, cuz they didnt understand it and said it was noise. That was pretty much kerrangs veiw in 83 / 84 too, then after geoff barton gave hell awaits KKKKKs, and Xavier Russell started spelling everything with a K instead of a C, they courted thrash for about 4 years, hailing it as the best thing ever (nowt to do with the weekly adverts from MFN, roadrunner etc you understand). Loads of kids at school became thrashers, and it was okay for a while, then it all started going tits up, cuz too many people/ mags etc didnt have their hearts in it, they fell by the wayside, and once again, ian and i were a solitary thrash fans when it wasnt cool, so be prepared to ride the storm for a while, although with todays media driven world, it may be far more fun than first time round. :D

Also bear this in mind:
i see people now who were thrash fans in 86/87 and dressed thrash, looked thrash and supported thrash, but who now are in no way attracted to it, as it was a "phase" they went through, and they look totally different. That probably means that in a few years, half of you on here will be the same!!!!! Square mr Normaltons who listen to mainstream music and drive a bmw and have a attractive yet uninteresting wife and a boring job.

 All i'm saying is that Evile are getting attention other bands should too. It's a huge shame Headless Cross and Deadfall have split up because I would have put them in the 'top 10' too. Also, SSS are on the same label but aren't getting the same exposure.

It's not Evile that's the problem, or Earache. It's the magazines for just focusing on one band when there are so many great bands around. Take Warpath for example, their debut it out this year.

And what does this have to do with elitism? Fuck you guys if that's what you think.

Do you remember the quote, from I think Extra Kerrang "Voi Vod? Avoid Vod more like" by Mr Russell I believe, from an article which also pointed out what a pile of shit the first Slayer and Bathory albums were. It's completely pointless getting upset about what mags like Kerrang say, they really aren't interested in the music, just selling magazines. That is of course their perogative,it is a business after all.
Most people on here aren't old enough to remember Metallica getting the "sold out media whores" reaction from "fans" when Master of Puppets came out,but without the success of Metallica/Anthrax/Slayer there wouldn't be a thrash scene now at all.You may tell me that Metallica are gay and you only listen to early Sadus and Toxic demo's but without them you would be unaware of thrash altogether.
Of course I would prefer loads more thrash coverage in mags, but then I would have said the same twenty years ago,and I didn't get it then either!

That is probibly true of half of the kids who read Kerrang! I bump into old friends who once listened to metal and they are almost embarrassed at the thought that they once listened to it. This will inevitably happen with thrash again if it becomes trendy and I'm sure most of us here will still be listening to thrash while the posers are playing radio one from their car stereo.

I would like to see Evile do well, and if you stop listening to something just because it becomes popular then you can't be much of a fan anyway.
