Witchfinder General, generally considered the best.
Free Country and Love On Smack, are possibly 2 of my favourite heavy metal songs ever made.

Requiem For Youth is one of my favourites too, such a headbanger's anthem!

They're a massive influence on both me and Lewis, Jamie has mentioned my personal favourite Love On Smack. I even really like the new album, and have said on many occasions that the review in terrorizer was utter bollocks.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I would have publicly wanked him off if he got in.

Re: Witchfinder General
he he. I think it was down to three of us in the end...me..some dude in the US?? and the bloke that got it.
I never had an audition as they said they could not pay me any expenses. I informed them that I would have walked there naked and sung for them??? ha ha. I think they liked the vocal on the track Children of the Witch by Battlewitch.
I got a couple of very nice emails from Phil so as a fan that was good enough for me.
But....I would have been.............AWESOME

As Bill already said they are a massive influence....they are the two albums that i crave the most to have on vinyl.
As far as favourite tracks its either love on smack or Witchfinder General itself.....its a shame they aren't going to be playing live

Re: Witchfinder General
It's amazing, back in 1982/3, when I was a big fan of this band, everybody hated them. Nobody had a good word to say about them and all the Metal fans I came across thought I was a twat for liking them.
"They haven't an original thought in their head" & "Sabbath copy-cats, with no musical talent" were a couple of comments made to me.
I wonder what these people think now? ha ha
Oh, and they also said "No one would give a damn if it weren't for the album covers." Well, they had a point there

The best song ever is JACK THE RIPPER. My mate who works in C BLOCK wrote it. He wants Ratz Ass to perform it.
It goes…
JACK THE RIPPER

JACK THE RIPPER
WATCH OUT!
Incredible.

Re: Witchfinder General
What has happened to Zac Bajjon (Enemymaker/Rainmaker), the guy who claimed he was an original member of the band? He claimed the album was recorded for an indie release, then was re-recorded for Heavy Metal Records and his photo and details were deleted. He also had demos and lives of the band, which were copyrighted to him. Anyone that questioned that was given a verbal lashing and threats of legal action if slander/libel was involved.
It was all very well claiming this when the band was inactive for so long, and weren't able to respond. How about now?!

Re: Witchfinder General
interesting stuff! i hadn't heard about Zac Bajjon... so was this during the 80s or more recently that he started making these claims? i'd love to hear some of the demos he says he has, if they are real then i bet they are amazing, and if he turned out to be a fake... well its hilarious!
Also does anyone know anymore info about Heavy Metal Records? what other releases did they put out?

Re: Witchfinder General
Zac Bajjon had a band called Bajjon around the 1986/7 mark. He made that claim back then too. He was manager of Cradle of Filth & Bal-Sagoth in the 90s, before forming Rainmaker, who changed their name to Enemymaker. From what I can gather, Phil Cope says he rehearsed with them once, and that's all.
