Earache are all about hoarding as many new thrash bands as they can so no one else gets anything from the resurgance, then giving them a lot of promotion, getting their money and then forgetting about them. From what I've heard, they've been treating a lot of their bands like shit and it pisses me off.

Candlelight FTW

Evile seem to be doing fine with Earache. I'm not sure if a lot of these Earache horror stories are true or not really... I don't know, maybe they just have their favourites (Evile clearly being one of them, as they are lovely) and treat the others badly, but I'm not sure if all the Earache stuff is exaggerated a bit. Although I know SSS don't like them very much and they stole the band's 'Thrash Is King' slogan, so maybe they are a bit horrible.

Labels suck, tho Dig is a cool dude.

He has always paid on the door to come to one of our Reanimator gigs. Unlike other people who have thought they were special and thought they were on the 'list' and had a right attitude when they were told otherwise.

But in general nowadays DIY FTW!

So much can be achieved if you go out there and play shows. If your good enough the rest will come eventually I think. As for horror stories thats what happens when you sign, anything you use can and will be use for yours or the labels gain espically the latter.

Me and Luke were talking about a similar subject the other day. I wont mention the band but they were approached to play throught a booking agent, the booking agent wanted £500,The band were messaged on myspaz wanted half that. Basically everyone trys to rape everyone!

It wont take off i dont think. A few bands will be popular though, not a genre as a whole.

Oh man is it hell!!! Theres a few stories out there at the moment that i best leave untold. But if you take a look at the Earache HMKillers page they take a dig at thrash. I heard Municipal Waste might be doing their last album with them aswell, and they're leaving that whole style they had behind. I mean, check their song titled and their album cover. Its a big move away from it all.

Sorry dude but erm... what!?

Faraz has hit one of the nails very firmly on the head, you have missed them all and mashed your thumb in the process. Before hearing any of the new stuff from the new MW album you could tell exactly what it was going to be like, and i'm so pleased it is! Its a step back (in the right direction) away from the party, back to where they were in Hazardous Mutation, but with a bit more of a mature attitude (if MW could ever have such a thing!!) to the song writing... thats clear from the artwork alone, then checking the new song... yep bang on! I don't see why MW would want to move away from earache, considering how well they have promoted their albums, and how much touring they have backed them for!

Now in terms of Earache... yeah there are some unhappy bands from the past but like most business entities you learn from your mistakes, and Earache seem to be working well for the bands that are signed to them at the moment. They have kept Gama Bomb, Evile and SSS very busy and have let them do their own thing in most regards. i mean look at SSS (who by the way, expressed to me that they ARE happy with the label) they have released 2 albums and have another on the go, have toured with a lot of bands very distant to the thrash scene, and have basically carried on what they were doing a few years ago as a DIY band, but on a much bigger scale. Gama Bomb have also managed to carry on doing exactly what they wanted to do when they wern't signed and have been able to produce a wicked album and do some mad tours since. plus knowing the plans for the forth-coming record... all you Earache nay sayers will be very impressed and surprised. Basically Dan, i don't know where you are hearing these horror-stories but well... from speaking to the people involved i know that they are all perfectly happy and are being treated well! I'm not denying that there have been known incidents of bands not being happy with earache, but that was years ago, and like i said before, it would seem Dig and the gang have learn't from their mistakes, which is cool for me to see from the point of view of trying to do it yourself and seeing that even the bigger labels make mistakes sometimes too!

I wish people would stop worrying about the "state" the scene is in at the moment, and just embrace it for what it is. Until a label clearly fucks over a band, we can't say anything, and its not helpful to anybody if negative bullshit is being spread around on forums and through gossiping. its just stupid. We have an amazing amount of talent, and a lot of backing, everybody likes what we as a group are doing, although as its a younger scene we can get a bit of shtick, but thats just part of life, and its refreshing to see that we are doing our thing, and doing it well, in the face of this!

Ok look at it this way,if it wasnt for earache the new Uk thrash bands would be getiing about as much promotion as say,the new german thrash bands ie: fuck all.As jamie said people should stop freting about all this, lots of good bands doing good work.Thats good.

Id like to see some other labels get in on the act,but i dont think earache have cornered the market in any way. There just arnt enough labels with balls out there tbh.

I don't think anyone on here is actually 'worrying' about the state of the UK Thrash scene right now, the majority of this thread has had everyone saying it's good, it's just in the last bit where people suddenly went off on one about Earache. People seem to just love to hate Earache, not sure why really... I'm neither here nor there really at the moment as I don't know enough about them to have an informed opinion. As I said before, I do know that Evile have been fine with them, and I guess Gama Bomb too - I don't know why I thought SSS had a problem with Earache, I'm sure someone told me that ages ago, but Jamie told me tonight that they're fine with them, so there we go.

Basically, everything's fine.

I'm just saying that a certain people in certain bands haven't been happy with Queerache and a lot of people have suggested avoiding business with them.

Joey can't really complain though, they pay his bills

Pretty much what Jamie said.

I'm not sure why people have a consensus that the future of thrash relies on the shoulders of Earache, it's down to everyone to keep a scene alive. The majority of folk that internet whine about record labels are normally the same people ripping them off by downloading the stuff for free!

It's been the worst kept secret of 2008/09 that we were shown interest by 'em but long story short, it aint gonna happen and there's no regrets or hard feelings either side as we like them and they like us & as far as we go, that's cool enough. Those that know us know the dealings of it and those that don't... Simply don't need to know. We've done an indie release as we can't be arsed with the mither of any other labels and we're only a hobby band. If you want 'a job' from this scene & needed an income / studio debts to pay then you deffo need one.

Plus, there's only half a dozen thrash bands on the label and a fuckload of great bands out there so get yer hand in your wallet for some CD's & get to a show.

Why are some of you guys so down on Earache? As far as I can see they've done everything right and are really behind the scene.
