That's complete bullshit.

I've never heard of people freebasing or shooting heroin recreationally in a way which is as harmless as having the occasional glass of wine - something which plenty of people manage to do. Fair enough, a lot of people, myself included, abuse alcohol and basically treat it like an illicit drug but to say that it is the most dangerous drug there is makes it seem like you take everything ITN News has to say as gospel:

We're no long a nation of shop-keepers but a nation of alcoholics and binge-drinkers and all that.

When you do cocaine you've very little way of telling what you're taking into your system. If I go out and have 10 pints of Guinness, I can be fairly sure that I'm not drinking fertiliser because it's legit and there are bodies in place that stop complete cowboys from being able to sell Toilet Duck as alcohol, at least in the EU.

If alcohol hadn't been around since the dawn of man, had recently been discovered and were to be classified as a drug, it'd still be given a lower classification than cocaine - and pretty much any other illicit substance, probably including cannabis - because it's easier to regulate and safer to use.

Well, we're told alcohol is fine as long as we drink less than 21 units of it spread out through the week. I'm not entirely sure what criteria the powers that be used to come up with the number but I'm sure 21 units a week was arrived at via a fairly logical process.

I can't really see a similar rule for illicit drugs coming about, though. I mean, I've heard that three grams of cocaine per week won't destroy your brain immediately but you'd have to rely on your dealer to ensure that the content and quality of what you're taking is consistent, i.e. same source and purity etc. Then you get fools who take ecstasy. Who steps in to say, 'Right, squire, ecstasy is fine but see them ones with the green dragon on them what come from Syria? Avoid them like the plague!'? The Government basically does that for me with alcohol.

Some people say alcohol's a drug. It's not a drug, it's a drink!

Damn there goes my stash!

Anyway I'm not talking about drug regulation but what it does to your body. Many people smoke a few joints a week, perhaps have a line once in a while, drop a pill here and there, some even smoke heroin occasionally without developing a habit but these never make the Daily Mail because they are not interesting, some take it too far and end up playing in rock n roll bands. The vast majority of drinkers do it safely, but there are more alcoholics in the world than "drug addicts", fact. Alcohol kills more people per year than all other drugs put together, fact. You are an alcoholic who looks down on other drug users, fact.

True but if you want other drugs they are not exactly hard to come by.

Hence my remark. From what I hear he was actually going to refuse to play the Glasgow show a couple of years ago because he needed a fix.

Pathetic.

And that from a pisshead? Just because your drug is taxed doesn't make it any better.

QFT, there are people who actually enjoy the drink. Where else will you find a non-alcoholic drink with the same quality as the alcoholic counterpart. Alcohol-free beer is shit. Which reminds me, whilst at Wacken two of my mates bought two cases of alcohol-free Becks the fucking numpties!

There probably are more alcoholics in the world than drug addicts. Why? Because alcohol is perfectly legal and, therefore, more widespread than pretty much all illicit drugs in the first instance. There are more people in the world who abuse food than those who abuse alcohol. By your logic can we infer that food, due to the number of people who develop heart conditions and obesity and subsequently die because they misuse it, is more dangerous than all other drugs put together?

I wouldn't say I'm an alcoholic either. I've cleaned up quite a bit since Uni. I still have more than my recommended 21 units a week but I now tend to drink them on a Saturday rather than 20 units every night of the week. I think that technically makes me a binge-drinker rather than an alcoholic although people have had trouble classifying me for some time.

At the end of the day. I can drift in and out of drinking 150 units a week quite easily. I clean up all the time if I have blood tests or whatever coming up. Whilst that might not mean I'm not an alcoholic, it does mean I don't have to act like a shifty degenerate to get my fix. I'm not sure people can drift in and out of heroin addiction as easy as that, though. Well, meth clinics and so forth would suggest otherwise...

Incidentally can you share your source for your statistics with me or are you passing off mere hearsay as fact?

Rubbish.

It's not as if there is a section for drug dealers in the Yellow Pages. If I didn't have mates who smoked the occasional joint, I wouldn't know where to start looking for the stuff - not that I would anyway because pot is shite. The point is, unless you know people who are already into drugs, it's pretty difficult to find a source. I'd say that makes other drugs much harder to come by than alcohol.

since we are a nation of "binge drinkers",i'd love to walk into a pub/up to a bar and ask for "a pint of binge please"

also itd be cool to start an argument with your pint and start swearing at it and insulting it,when a bouncer comes and asks what you are doing, simply reply "im abusing alcohol" :D

something drugs related:i dont see whats the big deal about "crack babies"...
we are all crack babies because we came from our mothers crack. :D

cor arent i funny!3 in a row.i only woke up an hour ago.
