I've only started to get Genesis in the last few years. Trespass is a mint album, esp. Supper's Ready. Agree about the mid to late 80s stuff when they threw away the prog and chased chart success, crap!

Indeed, they did used to be very good. Selling England By The Pound is also very nice, especially the first track Dancing With The Moonlight Knight I think it's called, it's bloody amazing. The first album with Phil Collins (A Trick Of The Tail, at least I think it's the first one) isn't too bad either, but I imagine they got gradually worse and worse until they became completely hilarious.
