It was a different age, not saying it was right (quite the opposite). But to take some pride in the other achievements of the age is just fucking stupid.

That's true. I wish we'd fly flags a bit more often than when a fucking football game is on or a retarded BNP march is taking place. The line between national pride and xenophobia is wafer thin nowadays.

All superpower aftermath can't be held with pride or shame for stuff you weren't around for, it's people trying to rekindle their counties glory days right now I can't abide. To see a modern day nazi party rally just makes me feel sick to the core.

On subjects like Geneocide and the like then of course it was bloody wrong. But i don't see what is wrong with a bit of conquest every now and then, keeps things interesting (yes daft attitude, but history... and metal for that matter wouldn't be half as interesting without it.)

I am more proud of the physical and scientific achievements of the era, i still believe that steam power is one of the greatest inventions in the history of mankind.

People should be proud of this country, it's fucking mint. If you don't like it, piss off to some shite hole. There's so many things that are right with this country. Off the top of my head - the NHS.
