Re: The Official New Metallica Album Thread
It's the best one out of the three yet, definitely. I don't actually find it that bad, although the drumming is still shit. There are a couple of fairly decent riffs here and there... yeah, it's ok. Not bad. Although I was listening to The Four Horsemen last night and thinking, "What have have they done...?"

Re: The Official New Metallica Album Thread
I was just reading some of the comments on Blabbermouth, and I can't believe some of the idiots on there. "They're back!" "Welcome back gentlemen, we've been waiting for this!" "Best song since Justice!" etc etc. It's like just because they've finally decided to play a thrash beat in a song, everyone's gone mad for it, nevermind the average riffs and rubbish vocals and silly drums. Here's betting this is the only song on the album that could possibly be considered thrash.
Just listened to it again, and I like it less than I did in my last post. I still think it is kind of ok, but nothing more really. I'd rather listen to Fuel or The Unforgiven II, or even bloody Mama Said for god's sake.

I think ok is the key word there.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Yeah, started turning on me, you massive ape.
Shut it.
I was merely using you as an example of how UK Thrash would be worse off if I were like you. I could have used someone else but I don't like Partridge much.

Metallica have been rubbish since Justice, is it really surprising that they're still rubbish?
I haven't bothered to listen to their new stuff and I don't need to to know it will suck. I'm surprised how every time a band like this puts out an album everyone goes into this big 'will-it-won't-it' debate about if it'll be a return to form etc. Do you honestly think it might be good? Unless you are a fan of radiofriendly midpaced rock, stop wasting time on this band!

To be fair, the Black Album was tits. I've never liked people saying they've been bad since ... AJFA because that album had three good songs on it at a push. I think the problem is that everyone on here is likely to have gone through a massive Metallica fad at some point and so are merely looking to satisfy their curiosity. It doesn't really matter if the new stuff is shit, people are slightly inclined to want to know what it sounds like anyway.

That's it really, we all loved Metallica at some point and still love a lot of their stuff, so the hope that they could still make something half-decent will always be there, even if deep down we know they never will. At least they still rock it live and choose wonderful setlists, that's the one thing they do right, and do very well indeed.
