Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Metallica - KEA
Slayer - Hell Awaits, RiB
Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican (Pantera's groove sounds very similar to them and have been accused of rippng them off but this debut by Exhorder is more thrash)
Paradox - Heresy
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Sarcofago - INRI
Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare (Make sure you like the vocals as they are very hit or miss. I personally don't like them. If you like their vocals then definately get Gammacide - VIctims of Science)
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Overkill - Feel the Fire, The Years of Decay
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of VIolence
Death Angel - The Ultra Vilence
Destruction - Eternal Devastation
Testament - The Legacy
Posessed - Seven Churches
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
That is just a list to get you started and I'm sure iv'e missed some out.

THe bands to go for first are Metallica, Slayer, Kreator, Destruction, Overkill, Exodus, and of course Dark Angel.

I my opinion this album is far from essential. Pretty irrelevant point but I just wanted to say.
