I didn't think it was that bad, though my threshold for bad movies was created by Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

But you clearly need to see Deadly Prey

Yeh Apocalypse Now is arguably the best but Bat 21 is also a good shout. Being based on a true story of a man always makes a film more poignant, the planning of being rescued using golf course dimensions was genius in reality and not a made up plot and Gene Hackman is a damn fine actor.
