The Non-techie stuff
It's a Linux LiveCD that has Avast! Antivirus installed, attaches all local drives and has two icons on the desktop. One automatically scans all drives, the other starts the main program so you can do stuff like update definitions and scan custom folders. The advantage of doing this outside of Windows is that the files aren't locked so you can delete them if need be.
The Techie stuff
It's based off a default Ubuntu 8.10 install, and it should also able to run on any PC. As it's a LiveCD, it doesn't install anything to the hard drive and can be used to clean stubborn viruses/adware/other nasties that like to hide away in Windows' protected areas like the pagefile, system DLLs etc.
If anyone wants to test it, feel free to grab the ISO and burn to CD: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EXL26YT0
This may well turn into a proper project with SourceForge download mirrors, support site etc, but that really depends on if I get permission from Alwil (company who distribute Avast) and Canoical (Ubuntu's owners) to distribute their software. In any case, feedback is appreciated
